Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This was a rotten weekend - to make a long story short - on Saturday, Shenan (my dog) became very ill - she ended up needing emergency surgery to have her spleen removed. The good news is - she is doing very well all things considered and may be able to come home tomorrow!! There were tumors on her spleen that caused it to rupture/bleed - but none anywhere else - so we had the surgery to remove the spleen. We will find out later in the week if the tumors were cancerous or not. If they were, we may actually consider chemo (the vet said chemo for dogs is not the same as for people b/c they don't try to eradicate the cancer, just slow it down). Shenan is around 10, so not a really young dog, but we both felt it was worth it to have the surgery since there was no evidence that she had tumors anywhere else in her body. And, she is overall a pretty healthy dog. She has been at the emergency vet since Saturday - and, aside from the emotional turmoil over it all, I'm really worried about finances/paying for it, but I guess it will all work itself out. I'm just thankful that it happened when we did - we were home and able to react quickly and get her to the vet right away. On the workout front today, I did Ellen's Prevention Blast off Belly Fat - or whatever it is called cardio workout - this one is a short interval style cardio workout -pretty challenging for me, too in about 25 minutes. I then added on Ellen's Fusion Flow - I hadn't done Fusion Flow in a long, long time and really enjoyed it today. Ellen is positively glowing in that one.Given my emotional state, I'm going to stick w/ Ellen this week. Next week I may do the 10 lb Slimdown Extreme if it is still up on ExerciseTV. I figure it will be awhile before I can justify spending $$ on DVDs - w/ paying for surgery and all...so I might as well take advantage of them and do them for free on ExerciseTV. I downloaded the rotation, and hopefully they will keep them up long enough for me to do the rotation. They don't have the kickboxing one up - but I'm ok w/ that - I can just sub in my own cardio, too much kickboxing makes my back grumle anyway! Oh - I don't know if I posted Friday's workout but it was Ellen's Yogini and my LONG walk w/ my friend. Take care everyone!Donna
