Hi Barb,

Thanks for the information. I went on PANDAS WEB PAGE today and found out

that they are using penicillin, erythromycin, clarithromycin or azithromycin. I

guess they use an antibiotic that works best for your child.

I remember reading somewhere that they are treating children who have other

bacterial infections as well as strept. Does anyone know anything about this?

Good luck with the Kutapressin therapy, I'll say a prayer for your son.

Re: antibiotic recommended for PANDAS/ Virus while on Valtrex?

Valtrex is supposed to be effective against herpes

viruses, not all viruses. Dr. G uses erythromycin for

pandas. For my 12 yo who is 6, he had him on 333 tabs

, 3x per day for a month, then switched to 2x per day.

He has been on this since January. The aso titers

thus far have not improved, and he put him back up to

3x per day. He started kutapressin a week ago, so

we are hoping he responds well to all txs, in general

now. Barb
