Guest guest
Hi there, I am new to the group. Thanks for letting me join, I've been reading alot online trying to figure out what I can do for my son, if anything. I found this group while searching for info on infant scoliosis. My son is 9 mos old and was recently diagnosed with a mild scolio curve, 10 degrees. He has been in PT for many months for torticollis, and has been leaning on one hip for many months, noted first by the PT and also by myself. One side of his ribcage is larger than the other, and he leans to the side. Even though this curve is so mild I am very concerned given his young age, and especially since I (his mom)also have scoliosis. I am hoping that he did not inherit this from me, and that it will not progress. The ortho that we saw feels that the curve will resolve on its own, but did suggest a 6 mo follow up to re-eval. My questions are, has anyone ever heard of these curves resolving on their own?? I am told this is a possibilty. also do you think 6 mos is the right length of time to wait to for an infant?? if the curve progresses I would hope to start some treatment asap, how would I know if the Dr we saw would do the cast treament as reccoemnded? or where could we go? I was actually so happy to see there is this cast treatment for infants! it seems that it is much the same as the helmet treatment that he had for Plagio. Just when I though all this helmet and neck issues were getting resolved now I am having to worry about his spine, so sorry if this seems premature, I just want to do whatever I can to prevent his spine from progressing and becoming like mine!! Thanks for listening and for any thoughts! le WA
