I like Capaldini. She is on the front lines and mostly right about the treatments she gives to her patients. But she is DEAD DEAD DEAD wrong about the use of Magace, a terrible drug that is based on a female hormone. It makes men feel like hell , like a woman having a period complete with all the side effects and suppresses testosterone. I think it should be pulled from the market and the guy that developed it should be forced to take it.

The weight gain caused by Megace is 100% from fat and water bloating . In fact, the hormone, and on a metabolically level predisposes men to add fat and bloat...gee just like a woman on a period........this weight is useless and in fact bad for people with HIV.

Ok I will get into trouble for this one, but despite having been a card carrying member of NOW at one point, I think some women MD's underappreciate the importance of testosterone or male hormones on males, and the effect of a deficit of them...several people have posted about how HIV itself causes testosterone loss which needs to be replaced, not exacerbated by drugs like Megace that suppress it.

and has been trying to find sales for its terrible drug for a long long time. It stunk 15 years ago when they were shoving it down Poz men's throats with wasting, and watching men develop truncal fat while dying from muscle wasting. I used to see this daily in SF in the 90's......and it stinks now when we have genuine appetite stimulation with anabolic steroids. One Anadrol and I want to eat an entire cow.

is also wrong and facile in her description of Oxandrin. It is not 100% anabolic. There is no such thing. The entire class of hormones is referred to as 'Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids'. Oxandrin is less anabolic then testosterone, but given in sufficient doses does have androgenic properties. Ask any woman who took too much Oxandrin, they started growing moustaches.
