Guest guest
Dear Gav, I feel so sorry for you, but I know this doesn't help. Know that I had many of the same feelings, and without support from my family I would have quite TX at about week 8. I don't know what the effects of injecting iron into the nerve can be either. I feel helpless to assist you. Just know there is someone here who cares, has had some of the same experiences, and come out the other side still alive. I hope you have told your doctor in very clear terms how you feel. If you do he/she may take the decision out of your hands. The TX messed with my mind big time, and I was in no condition to make big decisions for myself. You can rely on family to help, but your doctor has the obligation to do what is best for you. Please talk to the doctor. Healing thoughts and love coming your way... Eat well, sleep well, be well!Z King wrote: I've been put on hiatus on TX for 1-1/2 weeks. Myhemoglobin dropped to 9.9. Guest guest
Oh Gav,, it sounds like you are having such a hard time right now.. Man, I would be pretty upset with the nurse who did that to you,, didnt she check the back splash to make sure she wasnt near an artery or other blood vessel? I would think that by doing that, it might have given her the time to see that she was hurting you... Im so sorry, this is really a drag!!! my next question of course is why are you getting Iron shots? IS your Ferritin Level low or are they giving them to you based on your 9.9 hemoglobin?? MAKE them test your ferritin level if they have not,, lemme tell you why... Iron is very damaging to our livers and can make treatment totally ineffective... now just because your hemoglobin is low,, does NOT mean that your ferritin level is low,, my hemoglobin dropped to 7.0!!!! and my ferritin level was 717 !!!! and having Iron pumped into me at that time would have caused my tx to fail and probably would have killed me... I hear you say that you feel like you are dying,, so PLEASE make sure your ferritin level is what is low before you let ANYONE give you more iron... MY insurance company suggested iron for me when my doc was trying to get me procrit for the anemia... had we done that, I would have died... PLEASE make them check it ,, you NEVER want to take Iron unless the ferritin is low,, only then,, has nothing to do with the hemoglobin as you can see... IM worried about you now!!! hugs jaxZ King wrote: I've been put on hiatus on TX for 1-1/2 weeks. Myhemoglobin dropped to 9.9. So Saturday morning I wentto the drs. to get my iron shot. Guest guest
Things may seem hopeless right now but ya gotta hang in there . Treatment is rough , but the side effects can be managed . You should ask for zophran for the nausea , it works real well . And the dizzy spells can be from low wbc or low rbc which can be treated also . And ambien or restoril will help you with sleep . Your doc can also adjust your riba dose so that your brain fog will decrease . I hope you were given something for your pain , having a shot hit a nerve is painful and can take quite a while to recover from . Iron shot Injury--hiatus from TX I've been put on hiatus on TX for 1-1/2 weeks. Myhemoglobin dropped to 9.9. So Saturday morning I wentto the drs. to get my iron shot. Guest guest
Gav, I felt compelled to write to you , although we have never chatted before. I want to first of all tell you that I so very sorry for this awful thing that has happened to you - and while being on treatment. I too did treatment, I am geno 1b and I had a horrible time, and that is putting it nicely. I do believe I had every side affect possible, and then some. There were days that I literally crawled to the bathroom, because I was either to weak to walk or nauseated and or both. I can remember waking up in the middle of the night, on nights that I actually could sleep, and screaming in pain from the persistent body aches. At least a 1000 times I wanted to quit and then some, and I lived alone with no family around. However, I had my on line friends and they allowed me to call, even if it was in the middle of the night, and they talked me through it each and every time and to this day, I know that if it hadn't been for them, I wouldn't have stuck with it. So - what I am trying to say - is if you need someone to talk to , I am always here, you can call me, I have free long distance and I will call you right back. I know how hard it is, although I haven't had the experience of the nurses neglect - I do realize and can comprehend your pain and fear. If you can stick with it - it is so worth it. If for some reason the Hep came back to haunt me - would I do it again?? In a heart beat- only because they way I felt once I had riddent the dragon. If your blood work is not up to par and Doc says you have to quit, than you must - but if you just feel the need to give up - call some of us first okay. You can email me davies@... and I will give you my number. Otherwise know that we are all here, and I will be praying for you... Love, Hugs and Prayers Marie -- Iron shot Injury--hiatus from TX I've been put on hiatus on TX for 1-1/2 weeks. Myhemoglobin dropped to 9.9. So Saturday morning I wentto the drs. to get my iron shot. I am taking phenagran suppositories right now, I also have the pills. I know it is tough, and I can't count the times I wanted to quit due to side affects. My coworkers don't know a thing about mysituation--only the boss.I have the feeling I'm not going to make it throughthe treatment. I'm constantly dizzy, brain fog, brainsparking, nausea, bronchiorestriction, lack of sleep, etc. Can't eat because of the nausea, which is reallymessing up my strength. I feel like the TX is going toburn me out or kill me.Gav__________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have no problem with continuing treatment , its the stress it is causing in my marrage that I worry about . And if I have to pick between him and the meds , he is gonna win hands down . lol Re: Iron shot Injury--hiatus from TX Oh Gav,, it sounds like you are having such a hard time right now.. The nurse never didone before and she pierced the nerve in my hip. Byevening I was rushed to the emergency room--my rightleg was numb and the muscles around the spine startedto inflame. Now I have to watch out for any fever oruncontrolable bowels/incontinence. If this happens, the nurse may have hit the nerve that affects thosetwo fuctions. It's bad enough I feel like sh*t and like I'm dyingfrom the TX, but now to have this happen.
