Guest guest
Shadie, President of SAFE (Supporting Autism Families Everywhere) and board member of PACAS (PA Coalition for Autism Services), met with Senators Specter, Frist and Santorum on Thursday in Washington, D.C. to ask for their support. He requested that they ask President Bush to establish a White House Conference on autism, as requested by Congressman Burton in November 2002. Mr. Shadie reported that Senator Specter was enthusiastically in support. Santorum sounded in favor. Frist said he will look into it. Yesterday Mr. Shadie wrote to Senator Frist with copies to Sen. Santorum, Sen. Specter, Congressman Burton and Mrs. Bush. In addition, a 14 year-old from SAFE is writing as well. Mr. Shadie feels that Senator Specter can establish a White House Conference on Autism with Senator Santorum's help. Now is the time to write to Frist and the others. REMEMBER THAT FRIST IS A HEART SURGEON, so please avoid any specific issues other than the growing epidemic and the need for national discourse. Please copy SAFE at GRSHADIE@... on letters you send.
