UCLA update

Hi,

I just got off the phone with a very nice, young woman Dr from UCLA. She

called me to schedule an appt, but after she asked some questions about my son

she

decided that he really needs an evaluation for autism/aspergers. UCLA also

has an autism clinic. I explained that my son was tested for autism when he was

3.7 and not yet talking (actually, he wasn't talking when the appt was

scheduled, but was when test time rolled around). They told me he didn't not

have

autism. So the Dr explained to me that she thinks he needs to be accessed for

aspergers. Can someone tell me what that is? I've heard of it, but really don't

know anything about it.

I am still trying to get use to the OCD label. The Dr did say that it does

sound like ds has ocd. At least I know that now we'll be getting some help, but

<sigh...we have to wait till after the holidays. She really did give me LOTS

of HOPE!!! She said that after about 12 weeks of ERP (Exposure/Response

Prevention) that we would see a HUGE difference and probably feel like we have

our

old son back! I cannot wait for him to start treatment.

It's odd though, I'm not sure if I'm happy to get this thing named (ocd and

aspergers) or if I was really hoping to hear that he was just using his very

creative imagination and it would all go away in the morning. :( But at least I

feel like we are now moving forward.

Thank you soooo much for this list! You've all really kept me sane.
