I had a endo tell me I was tired cause I was a " Mother " . That was the last

time I saw him!

So, not only Gp's are clueless, some (most) endo's are too!

I know that I heard something on one of the sites or read something about

the sheep thyroid, but can't remember what it was at all. I am unfamiliar

with it. If a person can't convert T4 to T3 very well, or has strong

cellular resistance to the thyroid hormone, then the synthetic T4 isn't for

them. I think there are more and more people like this, particularly in

this day and age, as our world is so poisoned from so many different things,

more birth defects, whether hidden or out in the open, or otherwise. I took

T4 synthetics for 10 yrs. The first 3 yrs or so, I did fine on it, but due

to whatever, it didn't work for me any more, and I got extremely ill from

not having the right treatment/enough treatment, etc.......Thank God for

these groups, as I feel that it has literally saved my life, and many of

these people are full of knowledge, simply from researching, their own

experiences, etc.........Smart as doctors, or smarter, but not doctors, I

have to add. Some things are guesswork, other things have a lot of things

to back them up. Other things are a matter of opinion, but considering the

way I feel today, you can see that I am very prejudiced t'wd the natural

dessicated thyroid preparations. If you have allergy to pork or it is a

spiritual reason for not taking it, then I can see it. They are the most

similar to us when it comes to some other body parts also, so it seems,

namely the heart surgeries and such?

Careful about doubling your med, as it won't all come to fruition for

several wks to come. Might try an extra 25 mcgs at a time for several wks,

then see how you feel. Then, according to how you feel and testing, you

could go up some. That's a whopping increase, to say the least.

If he will not work with you, you need to find a doc who will. Where are you located?

You can tell him something like, "I felt like cr*p on 75 mcg. I felt much better on 150 mcg for two days. What can you do for me?"

I think all of the levothyroxine products are scored and can be broken in half between your fingers. The round ones ($ynthroid and Unithroid) can actually be quartered in the same fashion or with a pill splitter. momof2texascowgirls wrote:

(((> Doubling your dose is not a good idea. Levothyroxine is generallyincreased at the rate of 12.5-25 mcg max, with blood tests in between. It takes 6-8 weeks for T4 levels to build up in your blood. You mightfeel fine for a few weeks and then suddenly find yourself hyper. Youmight ultimately need 150 mcg or even more than that, but increasingtoo fast can cause problems.)))I thought about that, but I didn't know if I could half these pills.Maybe I'll do that instead. That would make me at about 112 instead of150. Do you think that would be better to start? I'd been on 75 for 3months prior to this. How dumb is it that I have to dr myself?? sigh. (((> I suggest that you go back to your doc and ask for one

of thefollowing: an increase to 100 mcg per day or permission to take anextra 75 mcg pill two days a week. (Alternate day dosing often worksfor T4 only meds.)))Tried that- he flat out denied me. Told me NO, 75 was fine. Ipractically begged for 100, 3 different times, yet still he said no.It isn't though. I can't make it through the day awake! ((> Do tell your doc about your experiment.))Yeah, I was going to. It was to prove to him that I need more, insteadof arguing with him to give me more. LOL (((> Did anyone on this site explicitly tell you to double yourthyroid meds? If so, I will have them summarily trounced. . . . .)))NO, it wasn't here, was all the reading I was doing at the thyroidsite that led me to try it myself.Everyone is safe. :-)I just can't live in a half zombie mode.I WAS a type A person prior to this. HAHA!!Although, my kids seem to like it more. I'm not so

concerned aboutimmaculate house anymore. Just moderately clean. hahahahaI do have problems driving for long distances or for long periods oftime. I can't seem to concentrate or something. So I try to just stayaround here, thus trying to find a dr near me(out in the boonies.LOL).Well, I am supposed to talk to my dr tomorrow -again! I want him toapprove me for 100 or so because I am almost out of 75s- in about aweek). We shall see what happens.I feel badly for considering 'yelling' at him, telling him that heisn't working on this very agressively, but what else can I do?~K__________________________________________________

Or it's all a part of getting older and middle aged - I was 32 at the time hardly "middled aged", I am 44 now and still don't consider myself to be "middle aged". Ba humbug!!! I am still young, just feel like crap.
