Thyroid Ultrasound on Thrusday the 24th

As you all remember in my last endo appt. I tried to clarify whether or not I

had one or two nodules and whether or not the " unknown " nodule was on the

" right " side due to ultrasound reports by the endo referring to the " nodule on

the right side " and the original ultrasound ordered by my PCP and done at

another location referencing it on the " left " side and when it came time for the

biospy it was done ONLY on the left. I have a " picture " from the scan the endo

did early last summer and it clearly shows " right " , it also show the size of

almost 1 cm.

So the concern by me and my PCP is that the right side if 1 cm or more should

have also been biospied. When I asked the endo at the last appt if there was a

nodule on the right - the already bad appt when to h*ll in a handbasket. And he

never answered. Soon after that question - my needing Prozac was brought up by

him again.

The requested copies of my records have also not arrived at my PCP's office -

they are being requested AGAIN.

We are going ahead with getting another Ultrasound now to find the answers out

ourselves. And I may depending on the results be having another FNA done soon

also. If the nodule is 1cm or more - FNA and if the nodule on the left has

grown any - FNA it again also. With my TSH suppressed - well there shouldn't be

growth. I do have an Endo appt with a diff doc in August. But the PCP doesn't

feel comfortable waiting on it anymore.

I will let you all know the results when I get them sometime next week I expect.

One thing I have always wondered about how standard is it when there are nodules

to have the nuclear scan done to see if they are hot or cold? Dr. P never

ordered that - is it standard or just when they suspect a problem? The one

thing I do know about mine is it is not a cyst and is solid. That I do know.

Janie,

When I was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter in 1986, I had a

nuclear scan done... probably because I had too many nodules for FNA.

<g> I never had a repeat scan done, even before my surgery in 1998.

I havd other tests, but not the nuclear scan.
