Yes, I was asking about adrenal fatigue...I will check out salivatests.com.....I did have a saliva test from Dr Arafiles but he did not mention adrenal fatigue or what to do about it. Thanks. -eva- wrote:

Please leave just a little bit of the post you're referring to, but I think you're talking about adrenal fatigue, right? Here is a good site.

Tish, thanks for the adrenal fatigue info...will check the San health foods for OTC meds you suggested.

Yes, i do try to 'lower simple carbs, caffiene, and sweets'...its is the sweets that have a hold on me though. It must be a vicious cycle. I am trying to do the small meals/snacks too.

Exercise...I have been an exercise addict in the past..distant past...I had read something about the '10 minute' deal too...maybe it was on this group but I had thought I would do a 10 to 15 minute exercise a few times a day ...just haven't gotten on that groove yet!

I will check out "Adrenal Fatigue..21st century" also. Thanks. -e-

I find that I have a lot of trouble with sugar. It crashes me after

a while. I think it is a double edged sword, because if you are not

on an optimum dose of thyroid and/or have low adrenal, the body

craves sugar to try and increase energy production. In adrenal

fatigue, you can get hypoglycemia and hunger pains because cortisol,

made by the adrenals, is used to increase glucose in the blood and

facillitate the use of glucose by stimulating the liver to break

down fats and by stimulating the pancreas to increase insulin

production to get glucose in cells. So, when adrenal hormones are

low, you develope low blood sugar and problems getting it into

cells. The result is craving of sugar by the body to try and correct

the problem. But, simple sugars can raise glucose too high and there

are not enough adrenal hormones to deal with it and it tires them

out in attempting to do so. Blood sugar levels are tightly

controlled in healthy people so that they stay in a fairly narrow

range, not too high or too low. So, the best thing for the adrenally

fatigued is to get glucose from food in tiny doses throughout the

day, so that blood levels stay constant an in the proper range and

you don't overwork the adrenals. It is also better to have more

complex carbos so that they break down more slowly and this helps to

keep glucose levels more even all day.

Excercise can cause the body to need very large amounts of adrenal

hormones. I used to do a heavy duty step exercise program that was a

killer. But, if I did it in the evening, I would not sleep a wink

that night. If you use up too many adrenal hormones before bedtime,

it can make for pretty miserable sleep or no sleep. Adrenal demand

is also highest in the morning and the adrenally fatigued people

usually feel rotten in the morning and find that they get their best

sleep around the time to get up. So, doing heavy exercise in the

morning can also be a real adrenal stressor. So, doing small 10

minute excercise periods is a way to not use too many hormones and

at the same time give a little time for adrenal recovery between

each period. It is really hard to do and I have been no good at it.

So, I don't exercise much.

Tish, thanks so much for the adrenal details...you described them so fully...wish doctors could!

Bill , Body for Life, has a 20 minute workout...I'll just cut it in half and do it 2-3 times a day!

Has anyone heard of/been successful with womentowomen.com? -eva-
