Guest guest
Yep, on our casts, they are very visible unless covered with petals/moleskin. As Nick said to me, I'm not gonna ask our Team Bex at SLC to do anything differently- we are extremely happy with them! Guest guest
Not all hospitals are the same when it comes to padding and petaling. Some hospitals use staples where others do not. We were casted in Denver and they would cut the under shirt and petal it to the cast so it was not free flowing under it. It just depends on the doctor and the hospital and there technique. They all have there own way of attaching the padding so no need to be alarmed. If you are concerned then I would speak with your doctor. Heidi, I do know that since Bexon's cast does have staples they cannot do the MRI in cast. There was a discussion about a year ago on the group with a child at SLC that had to have it removed for the MRI because of the staples, I do remember hearing something about SLC being able to do the MRI's there as well if you set it up that way. It wouldn't hurt asking. Guest guest
My son has had a MRI in a 100% fiberglass cast and it was fine; however, the cast from SLC (with plaster) showed up as too much artifact. has MRIs for thoracic spinal area cancer checks, and so we had to remove the cast prior to the MRI so that his chest cavity could be seen clearly. Stapes were fine, but it's the artifact that can be caused by the MRI that matters. So, it depends on if the area they need is outside the cast. You can always get a cast put on and then when you switch to another cast, do the MRI. Here's what we did...We went to our local children's hospital where he is being monitored for the cancer, they cut off the cast, then had the MRI the same visit. was out of cast for 2-3 days while we traveled to SLC, then they just placed a new cast on. Hope this helps. - > > > > > > From: NIck Guthe <nickgutheyahoo (DOT) com> > > Subject: Re: [infantile_scoliosi s] Spinal MRI while wearing cast? > > To: infantile_scoliosis @yahoogroups. com > > Date: Monday, November 16, 2009, 6:52 PM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > > > Our casts have staples, I got the impression we'd have to have it off to do the MRI.
