Guest guest
Okay, this one looks good! I had a visit with a young man today. He is in his early 30's, and quite goodlooking... hey, it doesn't hurt to be easy on the eyes!! His name is G. Hickl, M.D. His card says Internal Medicine and Diagnosis. I went to him for headaches, but ended up discussing my thyroid also. Our conversation, readers digest condensed version: Me: I'm real picky about the way my thyroid issues are treated. Doc: Have they been treated the way you wish? Me: No. Doc: How do you want them treated? Doh!!! And then he listened... to everything I said. AND had intelligent comments and input about all. Then the zinger, the reason he is intelligent... He has Graves disease, is post RAI after thyroid storm just not too long ago. He agreed to adding 25mcg Unithroid to my 90mg Armour to see my FT4 come up. He has no problems mixing synthetics and Armour... asked if I wanted to go to cytomel, said I prefer to stick with the Armour, he said great. We took blood for labs, will do labs again in 6 - 8 weeks, and if the FT3 is going too high, we will just drop the Armour down to maybe 60mg. He also ordered tests for B12, Ferritin, Folate, Iron/TIBC. Plus a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and a CBC because of the Topamax I have not only taking for two years, but he is increasing to help the headaches... but only until the thyroid meds are optimized, he says. I would say this young man is a very promising thyroid doc, what about the rest of you? Cathryn
