yay, ! Glad you are back at it. I would also really like to Flylady as well. My house isn't too bad - mostly b/c I do follow the (mostly) daily swipes and swishes - I did Flylady for a few months a few years ago and it got me into a good habit - every bathroom cabinet has a roll of paper towels and cleanser in it - so you can clean as you go. And, it is true, once it is clean it is easy to maintain (another great tip is to clean your frige out once a week before grocery shopping - I try to stick w/ that one to the best of my ability) My big problem is clutter in closets and drawers and other hidden places people don't see. It bugs me knowing it is there, though b/c I would really like everything to be organized and I also hate having stuff I don't use (the only exception seems to be workout items - I even managed

to get over my book obsession and now use the library more often than not). I've made some progress this year, but not as much as I would have liked. Way to go, though, on getting your kids to help out - but I also totally understand having your own set of standards - I have mine, too.

Way to go on your workout, too. Did you know there is going to be a follow up to 10 lb slimdown? 10 lb slimdown extreme? I hope they show them on exerciseTV. This is one I am pretty sure I will buy b/c I love Freytag!Take care -

The kids went back to school yesterday and I started following through on promises I made to myself. I wanted to get back into my exercise routine and also back into my cleaning/decluttering routines that have been abandoned/not much happening consistently for a few years now. Since I've been working so much the last couple of years and the kids have needed to learn responsibility appropriate to their ages, I've given them household chores each day during the summers. They do an okay job but not like I do and while it has been nice not to do somethings, it is nicer to pick it back up and get it done to my standards. Yesterday was a really insane day (first day of school too) and I knew I wouldn't workout but I did want to get at least one small househould task done so I super cleaned the toilets and sinks in each bathroom. That felt great. I'm going to try and keep up with the daily swish & swipes (Flylady) again so that super

cleaning won't be necessary! Today I did workout (more soon) and, since yesterday I decided I'd vacuum today, that's what I did. I didn't move furniture but I did at least do a more thorough job than my son usually does and my house feels better to me. I also went through 3 boxes of clothes my friend gave me for Miriam and found a boxful that she or I didn't like or that were just duplicates of things she already had and I already have someone from freecycle coming to get those today!

In between all this though, I decided I wanted, initially, to do a short workout, about 20 minutes. I decided I'd do 10 Pound Slimdown Total Body. I've done it once and didn't love it but that's mostly because I'd thought I'd selected "upper body" and got this one and was confused through most of it what kind of "upper body" workout it was supposed to be! I really enjoyed it today, really pushed and got a lot out of it. It was tougher than I'd remembered and that was good because I needed it. I used 5s for the whole workout and they were good for most of it but I'll have to go heavier for circuit 3 next time I think. I still am not a huge fan of workouts with combination moves because I usually want one weight for the upper body and another for the lower but it was okay for most of this. After I was done I decided I wanted more and went with the yoga workout off this, thinking it might help stretch me. I forgot this is a strength

workout (I'd only done it once too), not a stretch but wow, it is so good! I loved the flows and the way she builds them, loved the challenge of it and felt relaxed and strong when I was done. It felt so good to workout again. I have lots on my mind, work and other stress and really needed to workout. I really needed to all summer but I felt like I really needed to take care of my family and work and put it aside too often. I know better but summer is short... I'm taking more care of me right now though.

Thanks for the reference to " FlyLady. " I hadn't heard of that, but I think I

could really use it! My house is always cluttered (mainly because there are so

many other more interesting things to do with my time! Like workouts!) That, and

my husband hates it if I " move his things, " which are generally 3/4 of the

clutter.

Flylady is awesome. I was a faithful "flybaby" for years and during that time my house looked great and I felt organized and in control. Then I started working more and my routines slowly fell apart. Some things have stuck with me (I can't stand for my bed to not be made and I always wear my shoes) but others have not. Just like with tracking my food intake, when I do it, I do well and feel great, I have to get back to these things too, just need to find new ways to make them work now that my life is organized differently than it was then. Check out www.flylady.net if you're interested.

Hi Donna!

Thanks for the encouragment! I have cleaning wipes in each bathroom but that doesn't mean I always use them! I have the last 3 days though and that is good! I have a lot of hidden clutter too but, unfortunately some out in "public" as well, though not a lot. I want to get to the it all but sometimes it is overwhelming! 15 minutes at a time though! Before the contractors invaded yesterday (see my other post about "Best Laid Plans") I did manage to get some more cleaning done but when they're finished (probably tomorrow) I'm going to have to do a really thorough dusting. One of Miriam's chores this summer was dusting and she's not very tall so a lot out of her reach gets missed and even a lot within her reach does too! She tried though and it was better than nothing which is what would have happened most of the time if I'd planned to do it myself!

I saw there is going to be a 10 lb slimdown extreme! I'm not sure if I'll get it (right away) though. Those 20 minute workouts on the first DVD are really intense and so far, I'm not grabbing for them too often because of that (gotta be up for the intensity). I will definitely be watching for reviews though and will probably end up getting them at some point because this first set of workouts really is great!

The kids went back to school yesterday and I started following through on promises I made to myself. I had foot problems for a really long time because I have very flat feet. I didn't understand why my feet always ached so much. The doc gave me orthotics to wear but I didn't wear my shoes except outside. Then I met Flylady and the idea of wearing shoes to make sure that if there's some sort of emergency you can react really fast, without having to worry about getting shoes on, made sense to me and I started wearing mine all the time. Lo & behold, my feet also stopped aching! So now I wear the shoes that I can wear my orthotics in all the time that I can. The downside of it though is that when we went to a rocky beach this summer my feet, so used to being protected, had a HORRIBLE time trying to walk on them! My hubby pointed that out to me when I couldn't figure out why it hurt SO much. Oh well, I don't go to beaches, rocky or otherwise, too often so I'll keep wearing my shoes!
