I do not want to start a debate, but I think you are freaking out a little. Not to say your babies could not get sick, but I do not feel there is enough research on this to give it to a child. Or an adult for that matter!!I would rather get the H1N1 virus than to get the shot. And I feel the same for and .

Hi,I know there's a lot of you parents out there that do not vacinate your kiddos. I don't want to get into a whole debate about vacinations, but I'm curious to find out if anyone who does vacinate but hasn't been able to get a H1N1 vacine for their child is concerned. Our ped office has only received 6 doses of the H1N1 vaccine - 6! I spoke to the nurse yesterday and expressed my concern that my 10 mo old and 4 year old will be traveling by plane later this month and will be staying in a children's hospital. I asked if I could get them on the "priority list" for the vaccine. (Once they receive the vaccine in our area the first "wave" will only be given to children on the priority list.) She said "no." The priority list is only for kids with cancer, heart conditions, asthma, etc. I can't argue with that - I agree those kiddos should come first. I am scared to death (mainly for my

daughter who has never been sick a day in her life) to travel without this vaccine. Am I being irrational? Anyone else worried about our kids that travel and stay in hospitals?~Noah 4 years old9 months of casting in SLC; Currently on 1 1/2 years of bracingAnd Mariella 9 months old currently waiting and watching at 11*

Joan,That I can totally understand. Although I still feel there is not enough info out there about it, I do feel a child with underlying conditions could very well be at a higher risk. Glad he was able to get it.

I probably would not give it to Hayden either if he wasn't at risk b/c of his heart condition. When a child has a heart defect like his, they can go into congestive heart failure if they get upper respitory infections. I totally understand that there is not enough research on this vaccine, but I had to weigh the pros and cons, and if Hayden got sick I may have to put him in the hospital and the first thing they would do is cut that cast off. So I just hope and pray that the vaccine doesn't give him any adverse reaction. So far he is totally fine and playing and happy, so I just have to move on and hope for the best. Thanks Tasha. Before I had Hayden I NEVER gave myself or Hayle any kind of flu shot. I never believed in them. But life has taken a turn for us. Oh well. Glad we can all discuss this on this group. It's nice to have you all to listen to and talk to. Thanks Joanmom to Hayden 2 1/233 degrees1st cast down from 62 degrees Treated at ish Rite Hospital Dallas, TX

I am scared to death (mainly for my daughter who has never been sick a day in her life) to travel without this vaccine. Am I being irrational? Anyone else worried about our kids that travel and stay in hospitals?~Noah 4 years old9 months of casting in SLC; Currently on 1 1/2 years of bracingAnd Mariella 9 months old currently waiting and watching at 11*

I am scared to death (mainly for

my daughter who has never been sick a day in her life) to travel without this vaccine. Am I being irrational? Anyone else worried about our kids that travel and stay in hospitals?~Noah 4 years old9 months of casting in SLC; Currently on 1 1/2 years of bracingAnd Mariella 9 months old currently waiting and watching at 11*

,I am so glad you feel that way. I always speak, send a post, and then later think about what I said.I didn't mean to sound rude. I just have really strong feelings about this.

Popular or not - you're entitled and you're certainly not alone : ) As parents we all do what we feel is best for our children. I do not want to start a debate, but I think you are freaking out a little. Not to say your babies could not get sick, but I do not feel there is enough research on this to give it to a child. Or an adult for that matter!!I would rather get the H1N1 virus than to get the shot. And I feel the same for and .

,

We live in Colorado and they have a website that gives the vaccine

clinics around the state with dates and times. Our family was able to get ours

2weeks ago. We live in a very small town and were one of the first to receive

the vaccines in Colorado. Check you local Health departments website and see if

they have any kind of clinics set up. Also try this website for the centers for

disease control. They may have some helpful info.

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/flu_vaccine_updates.htm

Hope this helps you find the vaccine.
