Guest guest
Hi everyone! This has been a fairly tough week, but mostly because I have some sort of inner ear issue, possible a little infection. My ear is ringing. I think it is resolving itself, but I have trouble with postural changes. I get a huge headache standing up after being in a prone position: pushups, down dog, chaturunga. Standing into mountain pose after sun salutations is murder. This is not normal for me. It started to improve once I started taking a decongestant. I'll see the doc if it doesn't keep improving. I think I was having a reaction to the dust and fumes of the recent construction at work. It was pretty intense for a couple of days (my goodness, the remodel is GORGEOUS!). I still went to yoga class because we have been focusing on shoulders and shoulder blades. I have always had unstable traps/rhomboids and now my rotator cuff is unstable, so the class has been a godsend. I can already feel the change in my upper back, shoulders, and in arm mobility. One of the most interesting exercises was to simulate a handstand by lying on the floor and then pushing off of a wall. You slide your body across the floor when you push off with your hands. You also have a rolled blanket under your shoulder blades. She coached us into proper handstand form. Don't try this without getting some good coaching on form. However, this is hitting a whole bunch of tiny muscles in my shoulders and upper back. It's going to be unstable until it all rebalances. I decided to back off of STS and just focus on this for a while. Once I feel that I've balanced and strengthened the area, and it all feels stable again, I'll hit the strength training. In the meantime: More running! I've been doing this 2x/wk. It's getting easier. Cycling, Yoga on my own so I can pace myself around this headache problem. Maybe some Long. I haven't done one of her rotations for a while. I'll start as soon as these headaches fully subside. My HRM had also warned me I was pushing too hard, so this is how I adapt. Happy Workouts! Guest guest
Thanks . I doubt that I'll ever get to the full handstand, but it's so cool to be able to work the same muscles at a less intense level.  That's neat how they are gradually working y'all up to a full handstand! Baby steps. Hope your ear infection goes away soon! Those can be so painful.Hugs

Guest guest
Thanks .I'm in northern New Jersey, close enough to Manhattan to see it over yonder . I get the feeling that flooding is going to be our biggest problem because our grounds are so saturated.  I'm really lucky that my landlord bought and installed a generator today and has made sure that my fridge is hooked up. When we lose power I'll have enough juice for a fan, a lamp and my fridge, oh, and I have a gas stove so I'm blessed considering. If things get too scary for me he and his wife told me to " come on over " LOL. It was pretty intense for a couple of days (my goodness, the remodel is GORGEOUS!).I still went to yoga class because we have been focusing on shoulders and shoulder blades. In the meantime:More running! I've been doing this 2x/wk. It's getting easier.Cycling,Yoga on my own so I can pace myself around this headache problem.Maybe some Long. I haven't done one of her rotations for a while. I'll start as soon as these headaches fully subside. My HRM had also warned me I was pushing too hard, so this is how I adapt.Happy Workouts! Could you have a co-sinus infection? Running doesn't make it feel worse? Ooh, it just started pouring rain  Hi everyone! Guest guest
Your landlord and his wife sound wonderful, I'm glad you have them. Stay safe, our prayers are with you and everyone else potentially in harm's way. Re: changing course Oh no! Could you have a co-sinus infection? Running doesn't make it feel worse?
