Guest guest
YOUR WORDS CAN HEAL " A nurse who has realized, through her spiritual study and through her nursing experience, the power of thoughts and words about one's health, had occasion to prove it when her teenage son became very ill with a dread disease. Upon being hospitalized, he was placed in a room with two other patients, neither of whom was expected to live. In this depressed atmosphere, he continued to grow weaker, in spite of receiving the finest medical treatment. His mother daily spoke words of life and health to him, but he did not respond. Finally, she realized that if those administering treatment spoke encouragingly to him, it would help her own good words to have more effect. She confidentially talked with the nurse in charge of his floor, asking that she and all who had contact with him speak encouragingly to him of his recovery. The nurse replied, " I will be glad to see that this is done, though I cannot see how it can help your son. He is getting weaker every day. " The mother replied, " I am also a nurse and I have seen many patients recover who were supposed to be dying, after someone began firmly encouraging them to live. " Soon a nurse's aide, following instructions, said to this woman's son, " You are looking much better than you were yesterday. You are now on the road to recovery! " Later, when an intern made his nightly check, he said the same thing. Immediately this woman's son began to respond to these ideas of life and health. The very atmosphere in his hospital room changed from depression and death to hope and life. As this mother continued talking health to her son, he responded. Quietly she said over and over to him, " You are on the road to recovery. You are getting better. You are getting stronger. You are getting well. " ….. As she continued to speak simple, pleasant words to her son, the other two people in the room began to recover, too! One man later told her that when she first began to speak words of life and health to her son, he immediately began to silently repeat over and over those words for himself. Gradually, new hope for his own recovery came to him, although he knew he was expected to die. After he had completely recovered, he later told this woman's son, " Your mother not only talked you back to life, but her words gave me new life too. Had it not been for your mother's daily encouraging words, I believe we would both be dead today. " from The Prosperity Secrets Of The Ages, by Ponder. DeVorss & Company, Publishers.
