Guest guest
Bruce I hate to point out the obvious but this IS a vegan macro group, what she's offering makes complete sense here. Those not interested could simply not join. -I can't imagine eating vegan macrobiotics could make any macro person feel out of place...... but to each their own. Guest guest
non-vegan foods is a very very small part of the mb diet, so don't know what the big deal is - it's so much better to find what we have in common than what we don't. It would be nigh impossible to find two people doing ANYTHING exactly the same - even mb people are all on different places in their practice - joke: what is the definition of an agreeable person? One who agrees with me. Please, laugh - it's only a joke - it's ok to disagree, but even more ok to find our commoness. Guest guest
Dear Bruce... I appreciate your honesty and candor. What you propose sounds very exciting - perhaps a much larger event than I envision. And if you felt led to organize such an event I believe it would be well attended. I suggested a vegan macro gathering to bring people together in a more intimate manner - having attended gatherings and weekend workshops at Earthlands in the past I value taking time to sit in a circle sharing with one another - eating lovingly prepared meals together - along with offering a few workshops on particular topics. I would hope that people interested in macrobiotics would not be put off by vegan macrobiotic meals being served - but it seems to me those who would want fish on the menu could attend the Kushi Institute for so many of their weekend programs. I am suggesting a vegan macrobiotic gathering because I would like to bring together people who have chosen to abstain from eating fish even though fish has been accepted as part of a macrobiotic diet for years. I would like to offer a gathering for people who prefer vegan meals - a gathering respectful of their values. Years ago I attended lovely gatherings at Another Place community in New Hampshire that served the most beautiful, nutritious vegan meals - with freshly made sunflower milk. I loved going there. Such care was taken preparing the food. I have thought many times of attempting to recreate such a place as Another Place. Sorry if this conflicts with what you would envision. Take care. Guest guest
whatever the case may be the point of my starting this group was b/c I am vegan and macrobiotic. I want to be able to speak about vegan stuff and macro stuff. I don't want to hear about eating animals and all that stuff. I understand this world is filled with carnivores. That is why I created a safe haven for myself and others who feel the same. What you do outside here is well............. your business. > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > Some of the members of veganMacrobiotics are not vegan, including > > myself! > > > > > > I'd feel somewhat out of place attending a vegan macrobiotic > > gathering. > > > > > > You know how it feels when we visit relatives or friends that don't > > have > > > macrobiotic foods in their larder? > > > > > > I really hate going a long distance and for a bunch of days when > > someone > > > that I care for can't feed me or even have food for me to prepare > > myself. > > > > > > Maybe instead of a vegan macrobiotic gathering, a gathering of all > > > macrobiotic discussion group members both in person and virtual (on > > the > > > Internet). > > > > > > Vegan macrobiotic people could have their own meetings within the > > > gathering and have tables or booths (and websites) presenting their > > > foods and related products, as could any other special interest > > groups > > > within macrobiotics. > > > > > > What do you think or feel about my idea? > > > > > > Thank you, very much. > > > > > > Bruce Paine > > <http://brucesaysbalancezine.typepad.com/brucesmbbookreview/ > > <http://brucesaysbalancezine.typepad.com/brucesmbbookreview/>> > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________ > >

Guest guest
-Um Klara what are you talking about you are now VEGAN for life.................. Exactly thank you for pointing that out Klara. Vegan Macrobiotics speak about vegan and macro and such. Other great macro groups out there you can speak about non vegan stuff. I am still sad to think that one person found they had to continually graphically speak about animal products although a friend asked the other stop, my friend dropped out of the group shortly thereafter. Not a good thing. Peace, Reg -- In VeganMacrobiotics , Klara LeVine wrote: > > I love your analysis of yin and yang - but again it is generalities in regards to this group. You must know I eat fish - but being this is a vegan group, I don't need to talk about it here - plenty of other sites for macrobiotic discussions where I can bring up those kinds of issues, if there are any issues. I have no need to convince anyone here to eat fish - otoh, I am not attracted that much to the animal issues, or other alternative healings or other topics, so I just skip over them - it's not such a big deal. We did not sign a contract to say we would only be vegans if we sign up for this site. (we didn't, did we, Reggie??) Again, nice to find where we do have what to share. > > And I think sharing food and being together in person is a wonderful idea - too many people in this day and age experience isolation - it doesn't seem like a healthy thing to me - we are a social animal, and if it is too difficult to break bread with SAD eaters, then at least to find each other and share whatever we can is a positive way to help break that isolation. From what I understood, Em was only talking about a one time event - at least for now - > Em, > re organizing things - I know you said you have much experience in that and that's great - I find it's VERY challenging, because just can't please all the people all the time - having people disagree with what I wanted from our group is part of what made me give up - which may be what I needed at this point in time - to put my energies in places that could help me grow more. The very best of luck - hope the get-together becomes real and wonderfully successful. > > Klara > Bruce wrote: > My feeling is that veganism is an important part of macrobiotics but not the most important part. > > What's more important is how to apply macrobiotics under every circumstance, yin and yang. > > Many macrobiotic women, who I perceive because of their inherent yangness (and who can only become more yin through effort, intention, and a good diet as a positive outcome or through a bad diet and lifestyle contributing to sickness as a negative outcome) find it easier to be vegan, whereas many macrobiotic men because of their inherent yinness (and who only can become yang through effort, intention, and a good diet as a positive outcome or through a bad diet and lifestyle contributing to sickness as a negative outcome) find it easier to eat some animal foods in their otherwise largely vegan macrobiotic diet! > > Please notice that most of the active posters at veganMacrobiotics are women and I suspect this reflects the membership as well. > > And many of these women are married to men who are carnivorous. > > Because of both my studies of the nature of man and women in macrobiotics as taught by teachers like Michio Kushi, and my own experience with many women of all kinds of dietary practices, I have come to revere women who practice vegan macrobiotics but still not be drawn to that more yin practice myself. > > Just like it's the nature of people living closer to the poles to eat more animal foods in their need to yangize in the face of the extreme yin of the cold there, I can understand that it is natural for people living closer to the equator to eat a more yin diet like a vegan one just like the leader of this group who lives in hot, yang, Florida. > > If we want a macrobiotic movement that will include a more equal compliment of men and women , my feeling is that we need a macrobiotics that reflects the needs of both men and women. > > Yes, have a movement within macrobiotics that promotes veganism but as a compliment to the whole of macrobiotics. > > Does this make any sense to anyone, here? > > Thank you, very much. > > Bruce Paine > > Klara LeVine wrote: non-vegan foods is a very very small part of the mb diet, so don't know what the big deal is - it's so much better to find what we have in common than what we don't.
