Guest guest
I would have the MRI. -----Original Message-----From: mycatmiller Sent: Tuesday, September 28, 2004 10:56 PMTo: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Subject: MRI of brainI went to medical eye doctor today since I have been having lots of migraine headaches. He dilated my eyes and said that there is a very small amount of swelling on my optic nerve. He wants to send me for an MRI on my brain, given all the symptoms I'm having. What do you think? Can a MRI damage the thyroid more? I am a little scared (never had one done before) but I need to find out why I am having these headaches. I get where I lose my vision and HAVE to lay down to rest, then I feel drained.Any input?
Guest guest
I think the doc is being smart in that this will give the opportunity for the pituitary to be seen, most assuredly. Guest guest
Yes, if I could afford one of those things, I'd say make it a go. I'd give anything to know what's going on in my brain, that is, hehe, because of physical findings. RE: MRI of brain I would have the MRI. Guest guest
It's very easy. You'll have earplugs, just keep your eyes closed, and imagine you're in one of those 80's disco's. Kind of what all the pulsing noises sound like. You'll most likely have an MRI with contrast, which means you'll have the bulk of the MRI, then at the very end, they'll inject a contrast dye, and it's warm, and do a little more MRI. Not bad at all. I suffer from Opthalmic Migraine... lose most of my vision before the episodes, and had the MRI to look for any brain abnormalities. Don't be surprised if everything comes back normal, they cannot usually give you a reason this occurs, can only rule out things. Just like you, I had slight swelling because of the occurances. Cathryn, who is having migraines right now... it must just be the time for them. > I went to medical eye doctor today since I have been having lots of > migraine headaches.
