Guest guest
Tasha, I totally agree. Dianna was just concerned that our concerns are not something he can just correct at the last minute but would need time to think about it, talk to the other docs about, etc. I just want to talk to him either by phone or in person. I dont trust just talking to the nurse. Do you think i should call and talk to him ahead of time or do you think it is stuff he can address and correct at the time of casting? Guest guest
Not that he could not address it before casting, BUT I would want to talk to him before you ever even go back. Especially if it is a concern to you.I think it could get too involve trying to discuss minutes before casting. He may want to discuss with other docs there anyway. That would give him time to think about and look over how it may need to change things. And you have no idea how you may make him feel. I don't know Dr. S, but I know with and Hayden's doc, it would totally rub him the wrong way. And I sure would not want to do that prior to casting.I would call and tell his nurse you want to discuss some stuff with HIM. A frame that does not have the ability to hold/correct lumbar lordosis is not 3 dimensional correction. I am sure they are doing the best they can with a Risser frame, but the correct frame is essential for it to be the Mehta Method. The appropriate cut outs are KEY for this method, as well. A widely trimmed, mushroom shaped window in front and a cut out on the concavity side in back to properly address rotation (not past the midline). Please look at the photo in Mehtas article. Correct frame info is on the Resource Page of www.infantilescolio sis.org. If the surgeons have any questions, they can contact ISOP direct.Sincerely,HRH > > > >From: NIck Guthe <nickgutheyahoo (DOT) com>> >Subject: [infantile_scoliosi s] Canada?> >To: infantile_scoliosis @yahoogroups. com> >Received: Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 2:03 PM> >> >> > > >Someone posted under my Breezy Mama essay, a question about Mehta doctors in Canada- I know Darrell travels to SLC, and no longer posts, here.
