Guest guest
I called a couple of weeks ago and felt like I was brushed off. They said they received my paperwork and they'd call me. I called Atlanta for information and they told me that the school system has '60' days to contact me. I thought that was truely unbelievable. I'm anxious enough without the wait. I swallowed and called again and was transferred to a nice lady that got me an evaluation next week. This I'm thankful for. He needs help now as he'll be old enough (maybe not mature enough) for Pre K next year. But he needs speech badly with his hearing loss in both ears and OT. The lady administering the CARS/ADOS test had asked if he did toe walking or lining up toys and I told her no. He made me out a liar on that one. He's been toe walking daily (why now?) and lining up toys, candy, ect. He's usually the best child but here lately he's been throwing some pretty good tantrums because he doesn't understand how things work. For instance, here I am driving down the road while he's drinking the rest of his Mcs soda which he runs out of. He wants MORE, I tell him it's gone gone and I'll get him more when we get home. MORE MORE MORE and kicks my seat and kicks and throws the cup at me in the front and yes he's very accurate at throwing. RosieMissy Feldhaus wrote: , what school do you use? Guest guest
I don't recall it taking the full 60 says but I am in Gwinnett. My son made a liar out of me also. The neurologist asked me if he liked to spin or if he flapped his arms. At the time he wasn't so I said no - right before my very eyes he changed his tune and began spinning in circles and flapping his arms right in front of the doctor. I can laugh about it now but I was stunned at the time. I get items thrown at me all the time especially shoes. I just pile the stuff up in the front seat and refuse to give them back. I stopped placing my son behind me so if he decided to kick the seat in front of him it was my husband he kicked and not me the driver. Hang in their Rosie! Guest guest
If you are having trouble getting an IEP in Hall County, I would advise you to contact the "new" spec. ed. director, Culver. I hear from inside sources within the county she was picked because she worked with parents. Below is a recent article on her. I had two clients in Hall county who were having a very difficult time. School system NOW seems to be working with the parents much better.
