Guest guest
I can tell you that Dr. Shapiro (Is this Laurie Shapiro? Do I have the first name right?) is not treating your problem by your thyroid hormones, but is treating it by your TSH, which is NOT the thyroid hormone. Right when you were sooo hypo, at a .2 in T4, she lowered your dose, only according to the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. I don't see how you were even up walking around, as hypo as you were! You had almost NO T4 production, which is the main thyroid hormone produced by the thyroid. T3 is produced in a much lesser amt, and all T4 is supposed to be converted to T3, T3, T1, and so on. However, many people have trouble converting T4 to T3, due to various things, so this is something else I further don't understand---she didn't test your Free T3 to see how much was being converted and available, as this is the form that is taken up into most cells of the body, other than the area of the heart and very few others. Going to our site to the Doctors area will tell you who will supposedly prescribe Armour. Hopefully these doctors test and treat according to the thyroid hormones, NOT the TSH. I personally think that it is a fortunate thing that you are going to have to change doctors, because the one you have does not know how to treat thyroid disorders. The only intelligent thing that she did test was the Thyroid Releasing Hormone. If she was going to display this much sense, why is she treating by TSH only? What a mystery! Do you have Hashimoto's Disease, i.e., antibody testing? This will be a big determinant of what your test results for the hormones means. Guest guest
I agree that you should not see Kuldip Kaul. Lucy Kormeier is a mixture. She ordered the Free T3 and Free T4, but the TSH still takes top priority once she decides it is working. I need a suppressed TSH to feel good and she would not increase my dose. My FT3 and FT4 were barely at midpoint at that time. I felt terrible and she told me that it couldn't be thyroid problems. I have since moved on, increased my dosage, and feel better. If you feel okay with a higher TSH, she might work for you. She is all business and not that great at discussing things with you. Also there are parking costs to see her. I don't plan to see her anymore myself. Jill > > I've switched jobs - and now have new insurance. Insurance that > my > > current doctor does not accept. > > > > I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.
