Guest guest
When I saw the other hydrocortisone thread, it made me wonder if anyone here has had the same experience I have had, or if there is a logical reason for my cortisone experience. Several docs have prescribed hydrocortisone for me in all different doses. Every time I try to take it, I immediately start gaining a ridiculous amount of weight. The amount of gain is about 4-5 lbs in the first 3-4 days and 20 or more pounds in 6-8 weeks. Each different doc has told me to hang in there, the weight gain will go away after my body gets use to the med, the dosage just needs to be adjusted, etc. None of these plans helps and here I sit right now 75 lbs overweight, the last 40 pounds being gained from the last two experiences with cortef, in a 6 mo time period. I had just lost 30 pounds that I had gained on cortef, which was very difficult and took a long time, so the disappointment of this repeated weight gain is overwhelming! I am off it now because I insisted that I just couldn't stand gaining another pound. Anyone have this reaction to cortef, or have a clue why my body reacts to it like this?
