Guest guest
I told my family that I was going to try the C25K workout with Judy, and my son seemed rather concerned. " Mom, you don't run right! Your form will kill you for a 5K run... " Actually, this was not news to me at all. Even though I took 4 years of PE at a military academy, I never had the right running form. I guess they figured EVERYBODY know how to RUN, don't they? So after supper, he put on his Vibrams and proceeded to instruct me on form. Walk, run, walk, run... He told me to concentrate during the walking sessions to walk more like running -- weight forward, mid-foot/ball striking first as opposed to heel when walking/marching. He also said my arm swing was too exaggerated. (Possibly due to all the aerobics done with exaggerated arms for intensity?) He's quite an athlete -- played varsity soccer all 4 years plus track, swimming, and diving in high school. This last semester at college (he'll be a junior this fall) he put on a few pounds. So, after his lesson to me he decided to go run some on his own. I think I've sparked a desire for him to get back into shape. So I told my 19-year-old, 6'2 " son, " Well, you can go back to school this fall nice and buff again -- you can tell them you were just trying to keep up with your mother... " :-) Indyrose
