Thanks Melinda [infantile_scoliosi s] Suggestions? ?To: infantile_scoliosis @yahoogroups. comDate: Thursday, October 15, 2009, 9:30 AM Hi all, So I'm in need of some advice. Marlycia was sleeping thru the night since she was 10 wks old. When she turned 7 mnths, she started waking up for bottles again. So I gave in for a while then I let her 'cry it out'. She cried for three nights and started sleeping thru again. I feel like she is capable of going until 6am w/out a bottle b/c shes done it for so long. Now, when she got her brace on, she started waking up again and of course to comfort her, I gave her a bottle. Its getting worse every night. Now shes waking every 2-3 hrs!!! I'm exhausted and shes waking up Natalya. All our bedrooms are so close together, everyone can hear everything. So my issue now is, do I keep giving in to her? Shes 9 mnths old and I dont want her to think this is ok b/c I'll be taking the bottle away completely by the time shes 12/13 mnths. I know shes not in pain b/c she goes back to sleep after the bottle (which I am holding b/c she cant yet). So, I need to let her cry it out, right? What kind of noise can I have in Natalyas room so she doesnt hear it? I had the AC in the summer bit now what?MelindaMommy of Marlycia 9 mnths, Natalya 23 mnthsScranton, PA
Guest guest
I've tried this several times too and she wont have it. So, I usually feed her some oatmeal w applesauce areound 7 as a snack and them some puffs. She gets 6 ounces at 8ish and then konks out. I think its just b/c she was uncomfortable, being new to the brace. I gave in so now she knows shes going to get her way. Plus, shes waking up even more now, it was once a night. Yay for you, that awesome that he didnt want his bottle. I wish it would've been that easy or could be!!! Marly weened herself off the binky when she was about 4 mnths, she would just spit it out, but I dont think ts going to be that easy with her bottle (she loves it). Guest guest
Hi Melinda I had the same problem with my son Peyton. He was sleeping through the night at 3 months and then once he got the first cast on (11 months), he began to wake. I did the same thing, I got him a bottle and comforted him until he was ready to sleep again and like Marlycia, he continued to do this every night. After a week I thought Ok he must be getting used to the cast by now and this is just a new habit because he knows I will get up and give him a bottle and cuddles. So......I let him cry it out and after 2 nights of crying it out he was back to sleeping all night again and we haven't had a problem since. Although with every new cast change, he is a little restless in the night because I think the new tightness of the cast takes a bit of getting use to again so I will go in the first night and position him and cover him back up and let him cry for a bit, he always falls back to sleep. So I would say to try letting her cry a little bit and see what happens. As for white noise for your other daughters room, have you tried a humidifier? We have one in Peyton's room that we use during the winter and its a great sound buffer.
