Guest guest
They dont do it that way at ish Rite. They change the cast out all at one time. But I am going to ask if we can go home and come back the next day since we live so close. I really would like to bathe my child.. Guest guest
We go down to get Nora's cast taken off on a Friday. Her next cast is usually applied on the following Wednesday sometimes Monday but rarely, depending on the dr.s schedule. She gets anywhere form a 3 to 5 day break for her skin to breathe. She plays in the tub for an hour or two each night it's off! Guest guest
I'm not sure which way they do it at our Shriners. Since Grace so adamantly doesn't like anything done to her, while it would be nice to have her have a fun tubby time, I think it would be less traumatic for her to have it all done at once. Keeping with the normal routine might be easier too than her going through begging for a bath again. Jane To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Sat, October 17, 2009 2:28:26 PMSubject: Re: bathing I will. Guest guest
Jane, I tend to agree with you. Isaiah is too young to know the difference but if he was Grace's age i think it would be a little harder to explain why one day they can bathe and the next they cannot. Although many parents on here say their kids love it. My hospital does it all under GA, take it off and put the new one on. I think i prefer it this way for us because i think it would be too tramatic for isaiah ( and me to go through it being sawed off while he was awake. Guest guest
Yeah it really depends on the kid..... And routine for us is key. We get the cast cut off the day before and take baths and swim and get a new cast the following day. That is our "routine". And we eat at the same restaurants, stay at the same hotel and visit our favorite hot spots each time we go for a cast change. That really helps because Noelle knows exactly what to expect each time and she accepts that baths are a "hotel" thing. The saw did scare her the first few casts, but luckily they do it so quickly and now she loves the "bumble bee" and laughs at how it tickles her when they cut it off.... Amazing!- Noelle's mommy, 3 years oldRochester NYCasted 8 times for 1 1/2 years and in first brace!reflux, mild plagiocephaly, mild torticollos, hypotonia, ligament laxity, suspected Ehler's Danlos III From: Joan Vallee <hayro1611yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: [infantile_scoliosi s] bathingTo: infantile_scoliosis @yahoogroups. comDate: Friday, October 16, 2009, 2:03 AM While sponge bathing Hayden tonight he said, "take a tubby mamma"?
