Your intial post looked like your POV on the merits of exposure

therapy in curing *either* emotional issues or physical/sensory

issues. You seem to equate the former with phobias and the latter

with allegies. In NLP practice, I'm not sure such a distinction

holds. I think Ruth attempted to make this point with reference to

what NLP calls anchors.

I read only a brief snippet of your dialogue with Ruth, so I'm not

sure if in your personal experience you discount the possibility than

allergies can manifest from emotional reactions.

Generally, emotional reactions have physical correlates. How would

you describe the physical reaction (anxiety, stress, cold sweat, etc)

to an already cleaned kitchen surface by a sufferer of OCD for

example?

Just as our minds can treat an innocuous item in the world with a

fearful or unreasoning response, the body can mistakenlyly treat a

non-harmful item as dangerous--resulting in an allergy to it.

Apparently, many allergies originate in a bad experience. So what

happens for lots of people is you learn to be scared, or allergic,

and that can be unlearned too. One NLP expert says " An allergy is

rather like a phobia of the immune system " .

the post below am I right in saying that with NLP whatever is causing

the problem you are then exposed to that again and again until it's

not a problem? Is this not unlike exposure therapy?
