RE: My pillow and I went to the doctor's office.

Hi , Jan, and everyone--

I just got my test results from Wednesday in the mail from

Menendez's office. He didn't want to up my medication until he

saw the results, and typically we talk by phone the day after an

appointment so he (we) can decide whether to up my meds or leave them

be, or discuss anything else I might have missed that can be addressed

in five minutes or less.

This time, however, he was heading off for a two week vacation

the very next day and didn't want to touch my meds until he was back

and could look at the results. Menendez will be gone for ten

days. The last time he upped my meds and went on vacation, I

ended up having to see his fill-in endocrinologist because I had

gotten very, very toxic on the Levoxyl.

I am still on 30 mg of Armour. Though I am disappointed he

did not up my medication, I think he made the right choice in making

me wait for him to get back. I will be calling him in two weeks

with a request to up the Armour by 15 mg., now that I have looked at

my test results. I also realized that his office did a total T3

and not a free T3-- could someone remind me what the difference is

between these again? Doesn't it have something to do with

absorption?

The test results are:

T3, TOTAL 126 (60-181 NG/DL)

T4, FREE .9 (.8-1.8

NG/DL)

TSH

3.23 (.40-5.50 MIU-L)

I know these results are not optimal, but I still feel WAY more

functional than when I was on Levoxyl. I just started my

menstrual cycle, and this time, instead of feeling as though I've been

pushed down several flights of stairs, I feel as though I've only been

pushed down ONE flight of stairs. That's an improvement,

right?

Thank you all for your advice and support!

Best wishes--

Courtenay.

You mean he's going to leave you on

this very small dose of Armour for

another two months?! I can almost guarantee you that your

symptoms are

going to get worse, not better, prolonging this tiny dose of Armour.

I

could see the more logical thing to do would be to up it just a tiny

15 mgs,

then leave it there for another 4 to 6 wks, but this staying on 30 mgs

I

just can't see. What were your new lab results? Didn't he

run those again

to see where you're at, at least in the way of labs?

I've been so out of it this week. I meant to say that I am

going to move taking the second 15 mg dosage down toward the morning,

not lessen the amount I take. Thanks.

Didn't you

just say that you are on only 30 mgs of Armour, or is that someone

else I'm thinking of?!? If it is you, you really can't torque it

down any more.

Wow. That is so sad. How many of them are on thyroid replacement?

I am glad to hear that you got to get out and visit with family though.

Very small percentage on thryoid meds.,,,maybe 1-2%.

Speaking of my family...I'm at my mom's (tractor...shredding) and I bought some ginger chicken soup with me...one of my mom's neighbors is a recent immigrant and loves lots of hot sauce...they left some at my mom's...added it to the soup...WOW!!! or should I say 'heho'...good stuff! -e-Courtenay wrote:

Why are the rest undiagnosed?

And what kind of hot sauce was it?

Maybe they just think that that is the way they are supposed to be...over 40, overweight, sluggish so when they go to the doctor they don't insist that something is very wrong...doctor just rx cold/allergy/diabetes medication...the doctor has $50 - $75 in his wallet for 5-10 minutes of his time...what was it that Jan said...'did I remind you not to get me started'! Oh yes, and the kids...since their parents are overweight, sluggish...it is the norm.

hot sauce was just the usual picante/pico de gallo but with a gazillion chilipitines (little, green hot peppers)Courtenay wrote:
