Guest guest
He is starting you on a low enough dose of T3, you should not have any problem. Is he also going to prescribe your sex and adrenal hormones? It is interesting that your compounded T3/T4 combo has exactly the same proportions of T3 and T4 that Armour has. If you ever want to switch to Armour, you can do it easily. Keep us posted as to how you are feeling and what your continuing thoughts about this doctor are. If he works out longterm, we may want to add him to our list. rgrprop wrote: Hello to all from Dallas. Have been on a slow crash for almost 3weeks. But that hasn't done a thing. Got so tired and fed up I dragged my hubby along to seethe Fib & Fatigue doc yesterday and talk one last time about starting on newmed. Made the decision and will start on .50gr of 19mcg T4 and 4.5mcg T3combo. This is compounded at ITC Pharmacy in Denver and has no name on the bottle. Was on 69mcg Levoxyl. Does that sound ok? Also have .75grwhich I can go to after 20 days, if I don't feel better. Praying that I don'tlose sleep and/or get jittery. Will let you know how it goes.I must say that the Fibro & Fatigue doc, Dr. Kippels, has been verygood in all meetings, and explained things well (most of which I relied on hubbyto remember since I've been in brain fog) and he treated me withconcentrated listening and respect. He said that he does have patients on Armour, although he and the Center won't recommend it, and as is proven, some preferone over the other (synth combo), and some do well and then crash whentrying the other. He certainly spoke out against the docs who treat by thenumbers and that was good to hear. He said the patient's well being isforemost, no matter what you have to try. And he said that we really need to getto the European style of being able to obtain all meds except narcoticswithout prescriptions. He had very strong opinions about the rip-off pharmas.I would say that he should be put on the list of open-minded and attentivedocs, and the F & F staff, both admin and medical, has been nothing but patientand caring. It's just the cost that is rough if your insurance doesn'tcover or your deductibles are high. Their very good office person, Meredith, istransferring to open the new office in Houston, if any one wants to call her toget info. She should be there into next week, I think.I have 2 more questions: • I noticed that Judy's test parameters for the ThyroglobulinAntibodies were <40 IU/ML and her Peroxidase Antibodies were <35 IU/ML. On my testdone through the F & F Center, my parameters were <2 on both tests. (I was46 on the Peroxidase and 10 on the Thyroglobulin). Do you all see this kindof variance in test parameters? Do you think since the F & F Center isgeared toward treating thyroid dysfunction they have set the parameterslower to catch indications earlier? • Dr. Kippels told me that the T3 gets through the body fast -like in 36 hours. For those of you who started on combo T3/T4 med after being on justT4, did you get jittery or have immediate sleep problems? If so, what levelof T4 were you on, and what level of the combo did you go to? Did the jitters goaway fairly quickly? Did you quit the med immediately, go back to the T4,and then get a lower dose of 3, or just go forward until the discomfortsettled down? Thanks for being there and for the ongoing great information.Sara__________________________________________________

Guest guest
Jan and Tish - I don't sense any worry at all from Dr. Kippels about T3 - it's just my paranoia on over drive. I had called the ITC Pharmacy myself and talked to their very nice pharmacist, Jerry, and he gave me all the compounding ratios and told me himself that they are seeing more and more scrips for just T3. He said that Dr. Holtorf, who started the whole Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Centers network, is working more currently to study the efficacy of just adding T3 rather than combos. So I think they are wide open to whatever works. I think it's great that they are trying to be open minded and leading edge. It will be interesting to see how their philosophies get molded with experience. I was also told about their IV vitamins and minerals therapy, which sounds good to me, since my stomach doesn't like those Centrum type pills. I know that it might be an idea down the road if I don't feel good after optimizing my hormones. I try to eat fresh and balanced, but it's really hard. I'm going to let my primary doc finish up with the tests for my post-Vivelle Dot increase, and take them to Dr. Kippels. We are just working on the thyroid meds now, but he is aware of other stuff to look at like the adrenals. I'm really interested in them, since I've been off kilter for so many years and went so long with heavy anxiety. I will probably switch over to working just with Kippels for all of these hormone issues as long as the relationship is good. I am just going to remain a bit antsy about my sleep and anxiety until I see that I start to feel better. I might go along with the testosterone if he can start me very slowly. That idea really didn't sit well with my primary doc, due to my history of sleep problems and anxiety, but then she's not looking at the thyroid as the center of my issues like Dr. Kippels is. Thanks for the feedback. Sara > He is starting you on a low enough dose of T3, you should not have any problem. Guest guest
There are several doctors that have said that Chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia didn't get official recognition nor become such big problems untill the development of the TSH test and the resultant lack of treatment or undertreatment with thryoid hormones. In the past Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Symptoms were generally thought to be the result of low thyroid. Two doctors that have said this are Dr. Derry and Dr. . Other researchers who have studied the brain have found that Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue sufferers almost invariably have a history of child abuse or trauma. Other studies done on such people have found that they have reduced adrenal function later in life, insensitivity to thryoid hormones, elevated stress responses, and supressed energy systems in the body. Dr. Derry has treated such patients with great success with higher than normal thryoid replacement and adrenal support. He contends that such people are insensitive to thryoid and thus need more to get results. They also suffer adrenal burnout. Interesting articles that deals with some of this are: http://thyroid.about.com/library/weekly/blderryb.htm and http://thyroid.about.com/library/derry/bl3a.htm

Guest guest
Debbie - Dr. Kippels is only in Dallas. If you go to < www.fibroandfatigue.com>, you'll see the side bar with the Houston information - 1800 Augusta Drive, Suite 135, (Galleria area) 1-. You could still try to talk to Meredith here in Dallas next week (I think she's still here next week training the new admin. person) and ask her about the new Houston office. She and her husband are moving there soon. She's at 972- 980-2300. She might know about the doc(s) who will be there, or you could call the main number on the website 1-. I think they will give you info on the doc(s) backgrounds, whether they are sufferers, etc. So far they've always given me good info. If you want to discuss off line, just e-mail me at the address above. I see on their site that they are in Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, LA - Houston and Fort Worth just coming on line now, and Pittsburg, Salt Lake, Philadelphia and Detroit opening soon. Corporate is in Dallas. Sara > Sara, > > I would like to know what part of Houston is his > office going to be located?
