Guest guest
Had our eldest in day surgery last Thursday for two molars to be removed under GA and another tooth exposed to help its passage through the gum. When I called home from the hospital to see how everyone was doing I found that Hannah had been feeling unwell all day and had thrown up all through her carer's car on the way home from the bus stop. Poor carer had to pull over and sit with her on the grass by the road while she recovered. By the time I arrived home with our older daughter Hannah was still throwing up and she became my husband's responsibility for the night, while I took care of as her anaesthetic wore off. Lets just say it was an interesting night. The following day (Good Friday) Hannah was sick a few times, and generally not improving, and we began to talk of a hospital stay for Hannah and how to manage at home. The children were less than happy at the thought of me being away for Easter, and poor felt so miserable with an increasingly sore mouth. They have just started school holidays and were feeling very unsettled about me being away. But what could we do? As Hannah became worse on the Saturday, with increasing amounts of blood in her vomit, and not tolerating any feeds, we made the choice to go to hospital. Admitted in the early hours of Easter Day, and after five tries finally had a successful IV set up for rehydration (after once again having to argue with a couple of doctors that she was NOT to be given gastrolyte or saline/glucose because of her being on the ketogenic diet) and she was able to come home on Tuesday. So far so good and she seems very happy and settled today. 's mouth has improved much quicker than we ever hoped, and we are going to celebrate her 13th birthday tonight with the food she wants, not the mush we expected she would be able to cope with. All that remains is for me to restore my energy levels, not that they were great before, but they are now severely depleted. I cope really well in hospital but tend to fall apart a bit when I come home. Emotions a bit raw today too, just because I am so tired I'm sure. Wonder what the next exciting episode will be in the " Hannah saga. " LOL Love and hugs to all of you (Hannah's mum, Australia)
