Okay, I didn't do the C25K tonight, but I did do Cathe's Basic Step. I just

didn't feel like running as it really gets me terribly exhausted for the rest of

the evening.

I just started using the calorie counter on my HRM -- I just hadn't learned how

to set it properly, and DH asked why I bought it if I didn't use all of it.

I have some trouble believing the readouts, though. For instance, tonight's

workout of 30 minutes said I burned 522 calories. That sounds way high to me.

Are these things very accurate at all? How would one know?

Hi Indyrose,What kind of HRM do you have? I have a Polar. It's very, very consistent. One way to know if it reads right is to keep a log and make some comparisons over time.In my case, I don't know if the calorie burn is really reflecting the actual number of calories I've burned, but since the watch reads so consistently, I know how much I personally need to burn per day to keep my weight down. I log it on a spreadsheet. I log my food, my calorie burn, and watch trends on net calories.

Mine is a SportsLine. I really don't know much about the various brands.
