Guest guest
My husband was channel surfing a few weeks ago and said he heard on the news that the CDC issued a warning about Hypothyroid Meds and low birthweight babies/prematurity. Has anyone heard anything about this? This is of particular interest to us because we had a premature baby due to IUGR, which the Dr's cannot explain the cause. My husband insists he heard the news correctly, but I have been unable to locate any information. Thanks!
Guest guest
If a woman does not have enough thyroid med and is chronically hypothyroid, then, she is more endangered of having a premature birth, and a very difficult pregnancy. LACK of thyroid hormone during the pregnancy may very well be what he heard. Guest guest
Thanks Jan, My medication was actually decreased from .50 mcg Synthroid to .25 when I was about 3 months pg. My TSH was something like .50 to begin with and apparently I had apparently my TSH had dropped into Hyperthyroid levels around the 2nd month. Maybe my daughter's problems are not related to my thyroid, but I am still highly suspicious. > If a woman does not have enough thyroid med and is chronically hypothyroid, > then, she is more endangered of having a premature birth, and a very > difficult pregnancy.
