Re: Stills vs Lupus vs RA

It is my understanding that though there are test that " might " indicate a

diagnosis of Lupus (SLE) vs Stills, there is not one test that will also say

" yes " one has lupus just as there is not one test that says " yes " one has

Stills. This comes from my own personal experience of course. As I have

" some " test that are positive that " could " indicate Lupus such as the +ANA

and C3, C4, however, some of my " symptoms " lean closer at times to that of

Stills. To complicate things, " some " of my symptoms could also be Lupus

related. I have seen what I consider to be some of the best of doctors and

not one of these grand doctors has the technology as of July 2001 to make the

distinction in my case between Stills vs Lupus----however, they feel it is

one of them. My RA factor is negative however and I have been told that to

have RA it would be positive or it could become a positive diagnosis later on

in life--in essence one does not need to have a +RA factor to have a

diagnosis of RA either. Just don't know if a test to determine one of these

three diagnosis from the other has yet been discovered. Certainly not since

my visit at the NIH in July as much was tested there because my doc wanted

another opinion.

Kathleen, that was a great response and mirrored what my doctors have

told me, Louise.

I found this really interesting. I have been told by three different doctors

that I do not have Lupus or RA but have Stills. I thought there was a test that

could determine Lupus?? If not, I wonder what my doctors are basing their dx

on?? (The RA I understand . . . )
