Guest guest
Yes, I agree. IF we know what we're doing, and also have the guidance of hundreds, if not thousands of people, how much worse can this be than spending a yr or two with a doctor adjusting levels of thyroid hormone, in the same way they do it, to boot. Barring any other complications. I'm even learning about self treating with hydrocortisone with another group, seeing the ups and downs of this, BUT I WILL not self treat without repeated testing in this area either, since, yes, it can be dangerous, if it's not taken slowly, and you don't know what you are doing. Those with heart problems and who are older (like myself) really need to take heed on this, although, if you stay hypothyroid for a long time, with low adrenals, you can and will develop heart problems from that alone! I do believe in treating by symptoms, but also coupled with testing, and a lot of time and patience and not upping these meds just because I was feeling a little different for a day or two. If I had the money, I would test for a couple of myriads of things, because I do think that the thyroid is not my only issue. Re: Re: Doctors in Houston I agree!!! Even though I have heared that it can be dangerous treating yourself. I am sick and tired of the doctors I have never felt so bad in my life and bounced from doctor to doctor for 4 years now I am finally feeling better and it is all cause of this site and treating myself. Guest guest
I haven't read the book, but, just yesterday, I was reading a review on it, plus a review on another book. I truly believe that it can be safe, but going into it blind is not a good idea. I've been reading a whole lot of posts on one of the other sites on the different things offered for this. Deltacortril (or something like that), prednisone, and isocort. I have a tendency to go with the hydrocortisone in the 4 times a day dosing, but I don't believe in going up too fast, or guessing at this, just as a trial. I want to know exactly what my body is actually making. Re: Doctors in Houston > > > Barring any other complications. Guest guest
If I fail with the next endo I am seeing I am getting that book and trying that route - well I will try my PCP next - he's halfway convinced. But I will go the selfhelp way if I need to. Janie Re: Doctors in Houston Barring any other complications.
