We had a wonderfully refreshing vaction--just got back last night--

now for the reality check--tons of laundry--am changing beds and

folding laundry, listening to radio, tidying up (very messy house

Apparently the firm is still on reduced power usage in the tower

As of yesterday, BG wasn't here (that I know of!), but is overdue!

Your vacation sound an awful lot like one we took our boys on years ago. We also

saw the Soo Locks and toured a copper mine, as well as hitting the Mackinac

Island and its fudge stores! (And salt water taffy!)

Sounds like a great time!

including a lot of climbing. We were mostly in Michigan's Upper Penninsula (the

U.P. as we call it) and spent one day on Mackinac Island where cars are not

allowed and the only way to get around is horse, foot or bicycle. It was too

expensive to rent bikes so we walked. We climbed several huge hills (one went up

200 feet above the level of Lake Huron) up staircases built into them. I was so

excited to see DH (who struggles with anemia and various illnesses) able to keep

up with everything we were doing wonderfully! I was surprised at how much

exertion it was too, to climb 180 steps (or something close to that) up one of

the hills. We had an awesome time and the weather, except one day, was

incredible. DH and I showed the kids some of Michigan's natural beauty beyond

where we live, including Taqhemanenon Falls (upper and lower falls), some hiking

trails and a lot of history too. We found some areas we'd never been too,

despite DH and I both doing quite a bit of traveling in that area previously,

and some we want to go back to (especially a park that had some great hiking

trails we didn't have time to check out). Food was a a challenge though because

we had to eat in restaurants most of the time and there weren't too many healthy

options. The areas we were in were on Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake

Superior so there was a lot of fresh whitefish available but it was more

expensive so I only had it once, broiled with lemon pepper seasoning (and it was

awesome). I did pick up a few pounds but I'm sure they'll come off pretty

quickly with being back to a more normal life here. The area is also well known

for meat pies called " pasties, " pronounced with the " a " as in " bat, " and fudge

(especially Mackinac Island, tourists are known as " fudgies " ) and there was no

way I was passing up either! Anyway, I was dead tired yesterday (thought about

working out but didn't) and have a packed day today (considered getting up early

to workout but opted to sleep instead) but will be back to my formal exercise by

tomorrow.

It was absolutely awesome! That area of Michigan is much more hilly than where I am too and it is much less populated with lots of forests and just wilderness areas. One area we are in has a lot of elk and another has moose. There are also bears and other animals that we don't have around us (we have deer, racoons and other smaller animals). We didn't see any cool animals this time but it was still fun looking for them. It is like being in a totally different state and is so relaxing. There's much less rushing around like there is in the more populated lower penninsula areas. DH and I hadn't been there since before the kids were born ( is 13 so longer than that) and it was so good to be there again, especially to share it with the kids too. I hear ya on the calf work too!! I couldn't believe how much I was feeling my calves especially after the 2nd day of climbing!!

Re: Back from vacation

Sounds like a lovely vacation and hiking/ stairs sure work the calves! Sounds like you had a splendid time!
