It costed around $60 for both of the major antibodies to thyroid, if the doc won't run it. This can cause a lot of symptoms, when these things are pummeling away at your thyroid. I'm not saying that's what it is, just a good thought. Also, you need a ferritin, not serum iron, if you haven't had that test. B12 and folic acid wouldn't be a bad idea either. My personal opinion is that you are not eating enough, that you actually need 6 comprehensive meals a day, but very small meals, with lots of nutrients in them, to make them all count. One cheesestick simply doesn't amt to anything, and with thyroid patients, you won't lose weight on this kind of a diet, rather, you will gain, because a slow metabolism is going to save up everything it can, considering your body thinks you're now in starvation mode. I believe in the TSH test to make a full picture of everything going on, but I don't believe that it should be used to regulate what kind of dosage you are on. As a matter of fact, it often proves how little it has to do with how much thyroid hormone you need, so your reference to using it as a guide?---Don't encourage the doctor to use this, as this is also what he's been taught. It is the level of your thyroid hormones that counts, and TSH is a pituitary hormone, not the thyroid hormone. The Totals testing tells us nothing about your thyroid health status. Guest guest
What kind of diabetes diet did the doc give you? I found that the typical ADA diet did not do me any good. For one thing, it allowed too many simple carbs. (i.e. white suger, white flour, white rice, pasta, potatoes, in short "white death")I figured out my own diet by testing my blood several times a day for a few days. I found that I needed more protein (including red meat) and much more fiber that what the ADA diet had. Moderate exercise is crucial, as is avoiding stress. I seem to remember that you had one or more nodules. What is going on with that situation? Guest guest
Hi Jan, well the DR first put me on the weight watchers diet but I got sick on those foods, so then we went to south beach and thats not helping much, and then we decided to go low carb, but things as simple as a salad put my sugar high and makes me sick I dont do well with red meats because after my gall bladder was out, I justc ant seem to digest it anymore. it makes me sick. so I avoid it unless its ina tiny amount. he wants me to see a Dietician soon, to go over foods that work for me. all i can say is, not much !! oh yes, with my thyroid...I was the one who had something rather larger on the right side of my throat that was pressing on my windpipe. it was getting larger over the years, and I guess its a miracle, because as soon as gthey raised my armour to 90 mg, it started shrinking, its still there, but much much smaller and doesnt bother me as much now, it use to press so hard against my windpipe when I laid down I had to make a fist and put under tghe left side to push my wind pipe back into a straight line. somehow, not sure how.. but it shurnk , but not til we went from 30 mg, to 60 mg to finally the 90 mg and then it happened. so for now I am surviving. tomorrow is DR day. I am sur ehoping for some answers. Lin > What kind of diabetes diet did the doc give you? I found that the typical ADA diet did not do me any good. For one thing, it allowed too many simple carbs.
