Guest guest
Well I am PISSED. Or at least, I was earlier, I've sort of simmered down a little now. Last year our company gave us, paid, half day Fridays in the summer. They sent out a newsletter saying they were bringing that back, complete with a graphic of happy smiling people, etc.. your usual business propaganda. Well silly me, I neglected to read the fine print. HR contacted me asking me why I put down 8 hours of " special time " on my last 2 week timecard. I said, " four hours were vacation, the other four were for half day Fridays, last year we coded it as special time, what do we do this year? " Well it turns out only EXEMPT employees get to take the time off, free and clear this year. Non-exempt employees (meaning, POOR) people like me who are hourly) have to either make up the time, take it as vacation, or take it unpaid. Since I can barely afford groceries as it is (I have $100 that has to last me the next two weeks unless I use my credit card) I had to take it as vacation time, and that means I can't go on my trip to California for our family reunion as planned. GRRRR! So every Friday from now through Labor Day on my entire team will get to leave around 11:30 except for me. I ran 3 miles at lunch to let off some steam and I'll get to see Noel tonite which always cheers me up (back and biceps, my favorite workout of the three). On a more positive note: our team is moving to a different floor and I'm very, very lucky to be one of the few that gets a window seat. Moreover, the new view is even better than the one I have now, facing the river!! I'm also of course grateful to even have a job in the first place, given that our company just outsource 130 IT jobs to India (sigh).I'm also happy because I'm on day three of the Diet and have self talked myself out of cookies and other yum yums at work and have been in the 1500 - 1600 ish calorie range with low fat and low carbs too. I give myself an A. Next Tuesday is my last day with Noel for awhile, so after that my rotation will be Body Pump or Jari Love three times a week, continued running (two 3-5 mile runs during the week and a 10 mile run on the weekend) and a minimum of two hours of yoga / extended stretching per week. Of course Turbo Kick / kickboxing will make an appearance too. Thanks for listening to me bitch.

Guest guest
Sorry they did that to you! As a contractor, I usually don't get any of the good company deals -- some companies will include you, but most don't. That's just rude though, to make you " stay or pay! " You should talk to your supervisor about being " team payers. " Indyrose > > Well I am PISSED. Guest guest
Donna, after my team leaves for the day, I will wait 30 minutes and too be outta there! My boss won't mind, it's the company I'm angry with, who always touts how much integrity and " good " they are. Ugh! That is really unfair - I don't blame you for being PO'd! Well, I guess the good news is that your Friday afternoons should be quiet, right? Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Tue, July 12, 2011 6:11:46 PMSubject: an ANGRY three mile run Well I am PISSED.
