Guest guest
Just guessing here-----The ACTH stimulation test that she took, more than likely is geared to having the extreme-----either 's or Cushing's------Then I would say that this cortisol looks like it's having trouble getting up there,i.e., somewhere inbetween, not 's, obviously. Looks like her adrenals are tired, if that was given in the morning, even though it is in their "normal" range. Sort of like the "normal" thyroid tests. There's something about the low alkaline phosphatase, but I'm going to dig around on that. Can't remember what that is. Re: Update / Test Results A 60 mg increase in Armour is quite large. You may have missed your optimal dose. 15-30 mg is the maximum increment that is prudent for most folks. I would suggest backing down to 150 mg and get retested. But you do need a non-TSH-worshipping doc. For someone on Armour, your Free T4 levels look quite good. You may one of those who at some point needs to add a little Cytomel to your Armour. You guys are the experts and I don't know what I would do without you.As a refresher, I have been having trouble finding a good doctor because I need a suppressed TSH to feel good. I have been through 4 doctors in the last year and thought I had finally found a local internist that I could work with, but he is upset about my latest test results on 6/17/2004 because my TSH is now zero. He wants me to visit Dr. Petak in Houston, but I see that Dr. Petak is a "TSH-worshipper", so I don't think I will waste my money andenergy to go see him.Eight weeks ago, my local doctor raised my Armour prescription from 2 grains (120 mg) to 3 grains (180 mg) at my request. ! I feel great and have absolutely no hyper symptoms at all. My cholesterol is down below 200 at 190 for the first time in a long time. Also my temperature was finally up to 98.4 in his office (taken by ear). It used to be 97.4 to 97.7 regardless of the time of day. My blood pressure has always been and is great. But since my local doctor is having problems with my TSH, I seem to be faced with either self-medicating or going to one of the Houston doctors recommended here, but none of them are on my insurance. It looks like Dr. Borochoff or Dr. Pharo are my best bets with a suppressed TSH. I would appreciate any comments you may have about either of them.I would also appreciate feedback on my latest test results from 6/17/2004:T3 Free 4.71 (2.39-6.79)T4 Free 1.67 (0.58-1.64)Total T3 1.3 (0.87-1.78)TSH 0.00 (0.34-5.60)When on two grains of Armou! r on 02/26/2004, my Free T3 was 4.40, my Free T4 was 1.06 and my TSH was 0.01. I was still tired all the time back then.I also had an ACTH Stimulation test run on 6/17/2004. The doctor said it was normal. The Reference Range is 9-52Cortsol-Base 10.8Cortsol-30 Min 19.6Cortsol-60 Min 25.3Cortsol-90 Min 30.1In addition my FSH is 22.4 with post-menopausal range being 20.0 to 138. I have other test results. The only one out of range was Alk Phos at 33 with a range of 42-121. Does anyone know what this is? I am 53 years old and in pretty good health other than this stupid thyroid. I have been hypo since the age of 10 and spent most of my life on 2 grains of thyrolar. Started having problems about three years ago with no energy, cold intolerance, etc. I didn't start keeping my test results until about 5 years ago, but my TSH was supp! ressed during that time. Apparently, doctors didn't worryabout a suppressed TSH until 5 or 10 years ago. This is a rather long post, but as I said, I really value your opinions. Guest guest
, Thanks. I was not sure what to make of the ACTH Test. Yes, it was started with the base at 8:00 a.m. followed by the injection, then the 30 mins. was at 8:30 a.m. and so on. The reference range I quoted is listed for 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. They have other ranges for other times of the day. The doctor didn't even notice the Alkaline Phosphates - I picked up on that after I got home with my copy. Also I have noticed that Sedrate consistency runs a little above the normal range, but the doctor said that was no big deal. I understand the thyroid tests now, but I am still inadequate on everything else. I appreciate your expertise. Jill > Good Morning, Everyone.
