Hi, my daughter is Kayla, 2 yrs. with BPP. She has a lot of the same

oromoter problems you listed. This is specific to polymicrogyria according

to Dr. Leventer. We could open our own collector's museum of bibs! Her

language is very limited, but she is very vocal. Every now and then she'll

surprise us by repeating a phrase, yes, a whole phrase that someone else says

and occasionally generates one of her own. Her own words are hi, bye, up and

ball. She uses several signs, most of which

i haven't figured out so far. Her motor skills are poor right now, but

continually get better, so many of her signs look the same. She understands

" action " phrases very well, but doesn't really express answers to questions,

although her gestures and sounds usually indicate what she wants or doesn't

want. She understands about 85% of what is said to her. Leventer also said

that many pmg kids usually have the capacity to understand and use sign,(of

course if motor skills are there, hearing, vision, etc). An IQ test hasn't

really entered my mind, so I don't know what she would test at. As far as

eating, foods have to be mashed finely and she does attempt to chew many

things, also her tongue thrusts most of it out if the pieces are big (even if

they're soft). Kayla has come a long way, on a very slow road, and she'll go

a lot farther. She uses a pony walker, can pull to standing, combat crawls

and loves to smile for the camera. Her nickname is lovebug, because when she

lands of your shoulder the bite you receive spreads love. We firmly believe

that a lovebug a day brightens your way! Hope this helps.
