Guest guest
I did ask my doc about Armour for folks in their 80s. He said he did rx Armour for folks that old. He starts them on 15 mg and increases very slowly by adding doses throughout the day, rather than increasing the size of the doses. One lady took 2 years to get from 15 mg to 120 mg. Guest guest
Thanks, Jan This is valuable information. My sister is planning to have a private " consultation " with my Mother's doctor next week. But she told me that when she first mentioned that " her sister " was hypo and concerned about our Mother that he said, " Well, a little information is a dangerous thing. " So I am not expecting much from him. I did get an e-mail from my sister recently indicating that she is finally putting the pieces together. She is 62 and may be having hypo problems herself. She has Iritis (eye condition) constantly, has had Crohn's Disease, and thinks she has arthritis in the shoulder, wrist, and neck. Her eye doctor told her that Crohn's and Iritis were connected and were auto-immune conditions. My sister asked me if thyroid problems were also in the auto-immune category. She plans to ask her doctor for thyroid testing next time she has her annual exam. With your help, I may get my whole family to a healthier state! Thanks again, Jill > I did ask my doc about Armour for folks in their 80s. He said he did > rx Armour for folks that old. Guest guest
If this doc is not in the habit of prescribing Armour, I do not hold out much hope that he will do so for your mother. 12.5 mcg of levothyroxine (half of a 25 mcg tablet) would be a starting place, if he can be persuaded to treat her at all. Guest guest
HeHe! Re: Re: JILL.... Need Advice for Mother Did you hear about the two Walmart greeters sitting on a bench? The two old men were having a nice visit. One says to the other, "I sure do feel bad with all of these aches and pains. How are you feeling?" His friend replies, "I feel like a newborn baby." "A newborn baby? How is that?" "Yup, a baby. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants."
