Hello, I'm new here. I've read two digests and am looking forward to

participating here, so thought I'd introduce myself right away. Rather than

re type the basics, how about if I copy and paste what I wrote to Mollyann

and a as part of my membership pending questionaire?

And since I'm learning so much about some of you by reading your replies to

Rachi's quiz, I'll tack mine on this intro too.

Looking forward to meet you all!

Take care,

Sue Weaver

>>Tell us why positive thinking is important to you?

Hi a and Mollyann,

Long story. It began with the experience I've written about at

http://www.geocities.com/confetti_my_love and eventually lead to reading

everything I could lay my hands on about positive thinking, self-help,

affirmations, Universal Law, and so on (my favorite authors are Stuart

Wilde, Robbins, Louise Hay, Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer).

However, I come from a family with a long history of depression and OCD,

and seven years ago experienced a shocking betrayal that sent me into a

tail spin and my first case of full blown clinical depression. Between the

time I lived the Confetti story and then, positive thinking and living

according to Universal Law kept me very close to center, my life was in a

nearly constant state of flow.

But...I was severely depressed for two years and although I have gradually

pulled myself out of it, I've never gotten fully back on track. Then a

little over a year ago we moved from east central Minnesota (where my heart

lies) to the Ozarks. And since then it's been one bombshell after another.

We do horse rescue and without going into a great deal of detail, coping

with life here has depleted our financial savings and our physical and

emotional energy. However, I am determined to get back on track! I'm a

writer and if I can get my ducks back in a row and somehow solve our equine

population problems, I want to write several books in between writing

assignments (I write on assignment for Horse Illustrated and Hobby Farms

and I freelance to other horse magazines).

Yesterday I decided I must DO something, so I went to and did

searches on 'prosperity' and 'abundance'. I found your group and it sounds

perfect--and here I am.

>2) Are you currently under stress & needing tools for handling the stress

>better? Please explain.

Oh yes. BIG time. Financial, emotional (worrying about placing my rescue

horses), you name it. I've become quite a worrier. Never thought I'd say

that (but it's true)!

>3) What type of group are you looking for, & what do you expect to get out

>of this group?

I'm not actually sure. I just felt led to this one. Something 'clicked' and

I've learned to follow such hunches. Whatever I find here, I hope to do my

best to return good things to the group in turn.

>4) What resources, knowledge, or experience do you feel that you

>can>contribute back to this group?

Experience? I've read stacks and stacks of self-help books, know the

rhetoric...I'm just having trouble reconnecting with what I practiced

before. It's hard! I'm a Reiki Master/Teacher and a practitioner of

neo-shamanism for close to 20 years. People say I'm a good listener. I care

about people. Hmmm...that's about it.

You can also read a bit about me (and see a very outdated, read NOT fat,

picture of me) at:

http://www.geocities.com/wolfmooncurlies/Tir_Us.html

=========================================

1. What color are your kitchen plates?

Everything. They are garage sale specials. We do have two large dinner

plates that match: Oneida, Petals pattern periwinkle blue--gotten through a

grocery store promotion!

2. What Book are you reading now?

Fiction? People of the Earth " by Kathleen and Gear. But I normally

read mysteries; one day I hope to write them.

I constantly read and re read non-fiction, so it's hard to pinpoint any

special title.

3. What's on your mouse pad?

My mouse pad is dirty, so I'm just using the slick surface of my computer

desk. The mouse pad has a picture of myself when I was slender on it,

standing on a boulder along Lake Superior north of Duluth. It's supposed to

inspire me--being dirty, it doesn't. :o/

4. Favorite Board Game?

Don't play 'em.

5. Favorite Magazines?

Equus, The Horse, Hobby Farms, and I had better say Horse Illustrated or

I'll be in deep doo-doo!

6. Favorite Smell?

New hay. Fresh strawberries. Horse sweat (yes, I know I'm weird). Anything

with cinnamon on it baking in the oven.

7. Least Favorite Smell?

Anything related to petroleum products, cigarette or cigar smoke (both give

me ripping headaches)

8. What is the first thing you think about when you get up in the morning?

I'd better get the dogs out before someone pees.

9. Favorite Color ?

Medium to dark (but NOT muddy dark) greens and blues, preferably mixed with

pale greys and creams; also clear, powerful red

10. Least favorite color?

PINK! Closely followed by yellow (although I do like pale yellow cars)

11. How many rings before I answer the phone?

Actually, until the answering machine picks up and I know it's someone I

want and have time to talk to. I write at home and wow, getting a two hour

chatty call in the middle of a project really messes me up!

12. Child's Names -

Robin (but she spells it Robyne, so most of the time I do too)

13. What is most important thing in life?

For myself? Getting back to center, getting back in flow so I can start

doing things not only for myself but for others again. I hate being

frustrated and angry and worried...usually all at the same time. That isn't

ME, yet it's the person I find I've become. In the big picture, for me it's

helping animals. The animals need advocates. My thrust is rescuing old

horses and giving them a loving home for the rest of their lives. We have

been involved in both dog and horse rescue for many years (, my hubby

of 30 years, is allergic to cats but we HAVE rescued and place some kitties

too).

14. Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate. Vanilla is my absolutely least favorite.

15. Do you like to drive fast?

Not any more, used to!

16. Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?

Our overweight Beagle, Hank. The others (except !) sleep on the floor.

17. Storms - Cool or Scary?

Cool. Although now we're perched atop a ridge, living in a large house

trailer and we've had a few scary moments, too.

18. What type was your first car?

<LOL> It was a 55 Chevy but so beat up that to start it, I had to stand on

the driver's door sill and rock it to get gas to flow into the gas line.

But you know in the middle of those Hoosier winters when my parents' nice,

new vehicles refused to start, Blue Ringo (all my vehicles are named)

ALWAYS started! As long as I followed The Ritual. :oD

19. If you could meet one person - dead or alive?

Tellington-, hands down!

20. Favorite Alcoholic Beverage?

Don't drink it if I can avoid it without making a fuss.

21. What is your sign and your birthday?

Taurus sun/Aries moon/ ascendant on the cusp between Libra and Scorpio

(actually 1 degree Scorpio); May 16, 1947

22. What do you like the most about sweepstaking, not counting wins?

I send freebie sweepstakes stuff back in but haven't won diddly, not ever!

23. Do you eat the stems of broccoli?

Yep, best part!

24. If you could have any job what would it be?

I would manage a historic site or...give wonderful seminars like

Tellington- that would benefit animals and their people...or I'd just

get my life organized and my butt busy and write books!

25. If you could have any color hair what would it be?

I guess what it is...greying dark blond.

26. Half Full or Half Empty?

Used to ALWAYS be half full, now it's usually half empty. I have GOT to get

my old way of thinking back again!

27. Favorite Movie?

Hard. We don't do many movies. Most lately, Shrek. It's 's favorite

video and resides in our VCR. I love Jewel of the Nile because I reeeeally

relate with Joan Wilder when she pitches her typewriter off the deck of the

sailboat.

28. Do you type with your fingers on the right keys?

Nope. I've been a one handed typist all my life. Wanted to learn to type

when I was 8 or 9, so sat down and taught myself. Made re learning terribly

hard, so I gave up. I do shift with the middle finger of my left hand. And

used to be able to type 53 words a minute.

29. What's under your bed?

Right at this moment a very large Airedale (Hooligan, a.k.a. Hooli), a box

containing some truly hideous curtains that came with the trailer (I figure

when we sell it, they can go too) and a LOT more dust than is healthy

30. What is your favorite number?

22, for good or for bad; since I was a child, 22 days are the best or the

worst. 6 is significant too.

31. Favorite Sport to Watch?

Neither of us are sports fans. Watching squirt hockey (the 6 year olds) was

fun but of course, there is no squirt hockey in the Ozarks...

32. What is your single biggest fear?

Running out of money and having to give all of my horses away, even the

ones that desperately need us. For myself, as in physical fear, riding a

runaway horse (long story)

33. Say one nice thing about the person who sent this to you.

I don't know who sent it!

34. Who is the person most likely to respond?

???

35. How many rings are on your fingers?

None. I love rings but do a lot of Reiki and the theory is, they inhibit

the flow of energy. Not sure, but I take no chances. Ironically, I LOVE

rings! I wear my old favorites occasionally, but not on a daily basis.

36. Favorite CD?

Don't have a CD player but my favorite cassettes are Celtic folk, ie. Silly

Wizard, The Whistlebinkies (kind of an obscure group), etc. I also love

klezmer; my favorite cassettes are by Klezmerim

37. Favorite TV Shows?

Don't have one. Well, we have a TV but no antenna! It's so we can

occasionally play a video (like Shrek about twice a week :o/). We gave the

big one away the week Star Trek; Deep Space Nine and the Canadian episodes

of Due South ended on the same fateful night. All time favorites would be

Due South, Northern Exposure, DS9, and most Britcoms but especially

Blackadder

38. Ketchup or Mustard?

Mustard. If I want something sweet, I don't want it to be a vegetable! :op

39. Hamburgers or Hot Dogs?

Bocaburgers, Better'n'Burgers (veggie burgers)

40. Favorite Soft Drink?

That ol' devil Coca-Cola, to which I am hopelessly addicted. Everyone has

one food (???) that leads them around by the nose and mine is Coke

41. The Best Places I have ever been?

The north shore of Lake Superior...ahhhhhh! Actually, I don't like to

travel, so really haven't been that many places since I've been old enough

to enjoy them (I was a captive traveler as a child).

42. What screen saver is on your computer right now?

A picture of our adopted Standardbred mare and her almost brand new Curly

daughter (Maire and Southwing)

43. Burger King or Mcs?

Well, if I HAVE to chose, Mcs because I will upon occasion eat fish

and theirs is less nasty than Burger King's. Burger King fish is...mushy.

Yuck!

Yuck!

It can be exciting--not always POSITIVE exciting, though. Right not it's

pretty worrisome, which is why I'm here. But I sense things are picking up.

Positive thinking and 'letting go' for money worries DO make a difference.

Since I began looking for answers, we found the PERFECT home for a special

needs/rescue horse and a friend from a horse list sent her horse's old fly

sheet for our stallion, who is injured and needed one, but we hadn't the

extra money to buy him one anywhere near the quality of this donated sheet.

Cool! :o)

Well, give yourself time to get over it. Keep moving ahead (onward and

upward!) but realize you're still going to probably have a bad stretch now

and then and that's normal. Just ride it out and get back on track as

quickly as you can, that's what counts.

And be open to miracles. In my experience, during meditation I was given a

symbol...it looked like a crescent moon but with the horns pointing

down...and was told that would help me. So made me a silver and brass

pendant with that on it and I wore it for about a year. Then one night in

February, when the snow was deep and the full moon turned everything blue,

I went out to watch a lunar eclipse and...there was my symbol in the sky!

It was a partial eclipse, with the earth's shadow moving along the lower

4/5 of the moon and at at full eclipse it looked like a crescent moon with

the horns pointing down. And when I realized that, some sort of 'shift'

occured in my heart...I actually felt it as movement. Of course I wasn't

spontaneously healed but at that point I DID start healing. There are

wonders in this life if we are open to receiving them!

>I also read your touching story about Confetti. I can relate to that as

>well. It was a puppy I got that saved my life. Animals are amazing!

>Michele

They are indeed. I can't imagine life without them sharing my heart and

home. And as much as I love horses, if I could have but one animal friend,

it would be a dog. They are one true source of absolutely unconditional

love. :o)

Take care,

Sue
