: Tough indeed! But when they learn, they learn! Tonight, our son had a

serious OCD episode which turned into anger, bitterness, threats and

name-calling and even hitting on ds's part. We were not cooperating in any way

and he got more and more desperate and finally barcaded himself in his room (we

had already taken the locks off the door).

Knowing he was in great pain, and rather than responding in anger, my dear

husband went and sat on the tile floor outside the shut door. He began to talk

to ds, asking him to help him remember a favorite joke or two and needing his

help for a sermon illustration (preaching 3 services in the am). After 20

minutes of loving banter, they were holding hands under the door! Actually,

holding fingers would be more accurate! In a few moments, ds was cuddled up in

dads arms asleep in bed.

Now, that's a REAL MAN!
