June 20 " Inner Harvest "

Hazelden Meditation Series

Trading old habits for new life is what recovery is all about.

It's time to let go of the old patterns that no longer serve our new

selves. What we may have relied on in the past--excess food, chemicals,

dependent relationships, compulsive exercise--is no longer the focal

point of our existence. Now that we are recovering, we have access to

much more effective help through a source of power greater than ourselves.

Tapping into a spiritual source of strength makes it possible for us to

shed the patterns that blocked our progress. We don't need them anymore.

We don't need excess food, harmful chemicals, or dependent

relationships, and we don't need to starve our bodies in search of a

magic shape. Our Higher Power has other plans for us.

Recognizing we are part of the stream of goodness in this world, we can

let go of whatever impedes our growth. Recovery promises new life;

recovery is new life. What we do is turn over the old habits so we are

open to the new life our Higher Power offers us each day.

I will be open to new possibilities and new life today.
