Ilah,

I like the sound of your phrase: APT ! It actually spells out one of

my favorite concepts: apt! I believe it defines the 'condition' of many

of us rather well. May I have your blessings to use it in regards to my

life. I despise the medical phrases in current vogue: syndrome and

disorder! (Which, of course, are correct and appropriate, in certain

instances, indeed.)

Personally I don't like the term 'aspie'. I prefer to call it Asperger or Autistic Personality Type. And I agree, 'apt' sounds nice : )

Lida,

I agree with you (and did not use the word you, and I, have a problem

with on purpose). Aspie might define a small child well, but, for

example, I'm an old goat, not an old goatie! Go APT's!!

I don't have a problem with the term aspie either, infact I find it easier to type that than aspergers all the time.

There are charities and organisations here in the UK that are

mispelling Aspergers and actually spelling it Asbergers - Grrrrrrrr -

I think I prefer Aspies :-)

PS my son's name is Aleister son - initials AS :-) he does

actually have a middle name though.

, whenever I pronounce, or hear others speak this word, it seems

to sound like: ass burgers. LOL!

Hello Everyone, Where did you hear about people who find autistic and

epileptic offensive? I'm autistic and epileptic with partial complex

seizures and some grand mals and i don't find being called either

autistic or epileptic offensive. Where did you hear about this? So

anyways i'll let you go, i just have never heard of anybody who would

find their disability to be offensive that's all. I hope to hear from

you soon, good luck in all you do.

Signed,

Greg

I'm that too, and I've been told that " you're not your diagnosis "

when I use the terms. I've seen long heated debates on Norwegian

messageboards where Aspies have used the term " Aspergian " .
