tekka seems to have a very long shelf life especially the bought ones.

(You can make it and if you cooke it a long time then it also keeps

well if you can keep away from it!)

Miso also keeps a long time and some get better with age. I keep a

large amount of unpasturised miso in the fridge so it is slightly

dormant and then have a jar out of the fridge with a few weeks or a

months supply.

salty condiments are naturally self preserving

How long can Tekka keep? I have one jar that must be years old,

but

I've kept it tightly sealed. It still has that strong good smell. In

general this seems to be an area of macrobiotic foods that they don't

speak of in books--how long do things keep? Like umeboshi extract,

for instance. Or miso? I guess most of these foods were used daily,

whereas I sometimes might use them once or twice a week!

Hi There

These items can keep for a long while but remember they get more yang with age

so watch out!!

Your tekka is probably some powerful stuff so I would suggest using it with

care.

Hey Chad,

I have a similar tekka, I just keep and use sometimes. It'll be

interesting to read what others say..........

Thanks for the question

I do not use Tekka as I find it too strong for me. However, the item may be kept for a long time , but if I recall the longer one would keep this product the stronger it would become. In yin/yang terms, it becomes more yang.

Hope this helps.
