Hi all-Some odd thyroid test results I'd like some ideas on.  A 38 yo female with hypothyroid (+ antibodies).  She;s been doing a no grain/carb diet on her DC's advice to lose weight and she has lost.  She felt she had gotten to a stable/maintainable diet, so we did our yearly bloodwork.  Her TSH went up from 3.26 last year to 6.4 (H).  Her total T4 went from 7.4 to 8.4, her T3 uptake and FTI stayed essentially the same.  She's had quite a bit of stress this last year, so I also ran a T3, which was 286 (H).  I was expecting it to be low given how high her cortisol has been.

The only other things of note- her ferritin is still a little low (24) but she is strict vegetarian, has been for a long time, and has been variable at times about taking her iron.  Her vitamin D was a little high at 88, so we're decreasing her supplementation (I think she was at 3000 IU/d).  Her LDH has dropped again from 115 to 107 and I am continually talking with her about eating and not skipping meals- she's done better with this recently, so I was also surprised at that result.  Her glucose had also increased from 89 to 101 (H).

So how do I interpret an increasing and now high TSH, a normal and within optimum T4, and a high T3 with normal indicators of TBG?Thanks- Hindman, ND, LAc
