Guest guest
The other day I was talking to my mom on the phone about my BFL challenge, and made the mistake of telling her I'm trying to reduce my body fat percentage to 15% by the end of my second challenge(I'm in week 10 of my first challenge!). She started warning me about an article she read(I'm assuming in some mainstream women's magazine like Woman's Day or Good Houskeeping) that body fat % for women is dangerous under 17% and that you could stop menstrating. She had that pleading, " I'm concerned " tone to her voice, so I told her I'd look into it. Well, I'm about 18% body fat now and nowhere near the lean hardbody I'd like to be! My question is...has anyone known anyone who has had this happen? My best friend, an amateur competitive bodybuilder, has 9% body fat, along with her period. I've always read that healthy body fat percentage for women was somewhere between 12-20%, which I think is a big range, but a good guideline! I somehow wonder if this magazine wasn't trying to make women feel okay about being a little fat!?! ;-) The advice seems REALLY conservative. Angie *who loves mom, but not her body fat!*
