Great news, Sue! You're right, it sounds like everything is falling

into place with the right therapy and all. Really, things are

looking up so get those hopes up!!

Sue: Where in Florida is this OCD center?

new member update

HI, I wrote in last week for the first time that we just got an OCD dx for

our 7 1/2 year old -she has school anxiety, sensitivities of many kinds, and

started hair pulling with some bald spots etc. I found and OCD center just 10

mins. from my house in FL and my husband and I had our first appt. with the

head

psychologist. He said all the right things about CBT and ERP and he was

terrific. The questions he asked us about her behavior definately showed that

he is

quite experienced in this. There is even a parent and child support meeting

once a month. I am for the first time a little hopeful as I am still so

depressed

about the dx. She was just upped to 25 mg of Zoloft , but the center usually

uses meds. as a last resort, but the psychiatrist wants her on it. The OCD

center mentioned Luvox as a possible better choice. They have a good book they

want to read to my daughter about the OCD flea also.So we start this week, and

I

guess I will put the other psychologist on hold as it seems that some have

said without CBT it could be a waste of valuable time. The Dr said every time

we

have reassured her about her fears that we are feeding the OCD and will learn

how to undo that. So between this group and the Ocd center, I feel encouraged

for the first time. Sue
