Guest guest
you can look at things on many different levels and you can find studeis to support anything. I would not be going by government recommendations in matters like this - if we do we will all be lining up for fluorodated water, vaccines, chemotherapy and agent organge! LOL! I know that when i read that micrwaved food does not molecularly represent the same food - ie if you micvowave apotato it changes at that level and that microwaved food causes the body to mount an immune attack then that pretty much says it all for me. even people i know not into natural foods and wholefoods reject microwave cooking. we each have to weigh our own choices. and fine tune our intuition to realise what is right for us. great that you are exploring all this! you do have to be careful with baceria on leftovers - probably slightly more so with animal foods that non animal foods. ohsawa actually said spoiled rice cant hurt you but hey i would choose fresh and properly rehated anyday! ;-) Sarrett wrote: I did a little research on the web and not surprisingly there were statements from both Canadian and Austrailian government orgs saying their safe but the more "natural health" sites counter with evidence that they're bad. I don't think either side is entirely neutral. The govt's don't want to hurt the industry without incontrovertable proof (eg. cigarettes) and I think there might be a tendency for people in the "natural food" world to be a little against microwaves ovens going in. Dr. Weil (who I have a lot of respect for) rejects microwaves ovens for cooking (prolonged cooking alters protein) but doesn't think they're bad for reheating, defrausting since times are short. I certainly wouldn't cook from scratch in one...stuff comes out bad anyway. I thought the wheat one might have something to do with temp but when I read the details the water was given time to cool before the wheat was introducted. I also read about the blood warming incident and the Swiss study (which they tried to mussel.) The one thing I would say is it's probably worse to under heat stuff where bacteria isn't killed off then to reheat in a microwave but certainly using an oven, pan or a steamer is preferable. Indeed I am skeptical of the government pronoucements on the matter that I read. > > I know that when i read that micrwaved food does not molecularly > represent the same food - ie if you micvowave apotato it changes at > that level and that microwaved food causes the body to mount an immune > attack then that pretty much says it all for me. > even people i know not into natural foods and wholefoods reject > microwave cooking. > Well, that says a lot then....if your body is reacting to microwave food differently than food cooked in more traditional ways it is reason for great concern. > we each have to weigh our own choices. and fine tune our intuition to > realise what is right for us. > > > great that you are exploring all this! > Thanks! > you do have to be careful with baceria on leftovers - probably > slightly more so with animal foods that non animal foods. > ohsawa actually said spoiled rice cant hurt you but hey i would choose > fresh and properly rehated anyday! ;-) > Exactly!!
