Guest guest
Thanks for bringing up this poll someone just emailed me privately as he's switched his son off dairy (which I'm thrilled about) and onto soy. I suggested Pacific's multi grain milk as it's got nice ingredients, no oil and no sweetener. I did say that home made is better but I'm being realistic. I also like almond milk and Sin you know oat can be fun too. I hope others make some comments > > I set this up as a poll simply because I am very curious ...which do > you think is the healthiest choice: > > Almond milk > soy milk > rice milk > oat milk > other > > ...and of the above, which do you find the most enjoyable? >

Guest guest
, How can you say that animal milk is "Yuck"? Humans are animals and mother's milk is better for us (as babies) than all those other milks! Why do you disinclude amasake from your list of beverages? More nourishment can derived from amasake (also called amazake) than either almond milk, oat milk, or (unfermented) rice milk! Which came first, human consumption of other animals' milk or agriculture ? Preaching to the choir about veganism is easy! To make a real difference, try convincing animal food consumers of their folly! Thank you, very much. Guest guest
Bruce! Your post seems awfully argumentative. I'm extremely protective when it comes to . Who cares why she doesn't include amazake from her list. It makes perfect sense to me. She made up her list, it has to end somewhere and that's where she chose it to. It is her poll. If you'd like to make another poll including amazake you are welcome to. In the future I'd appreciate it if you do not try to antagonize other members of the group. A bit of challenge here and there is fine but there is no reason for this one. I made this group so people like CAN preach to the choir. Enough already Bruce, please get a hobby. Guest guest
hi there, new to the group and this is my first post. all these years i thought i was doing so well with skim milk :-) i voted for other. last year, i really got into soy milk. i would buy west soy and of course whole foods 365 brand. then i really got into the fat free west soy. however, after reading up on macrobiotics by kushi in december of 2006, amazake was a new word for me to explore as i never saw it on the whole foods aisle. so i was on the look out for amazake. after buying EdenBlend Certified Rice & Soy Beverage, it was the only alternative " milk " / beverage that had amazake. it is delicious and has all of the omega3-6-9 too. the ingredients are: Purified Water, Organic Amazake (Organic Short Grain Brown Rice, water, Koji-Aspergillus Oryzae), Organic Soybeans, Kombu Seaweed, Carrageenan, Sea Salt. in comparison with the other soy milks, it is a bit pricey at $2.79 per 32 fl oz. but it is worth it to me. this last week, i have tried the Pacific brand - i wasn't too crazy about the Hazelnut flavor. but i did buy the Multigrain, and Oat just to try them. the other brand that i bought recently, and the most expensive of all at about $3.79 is the Living Harvest Hempmilk which is okay and the only advantage that it has over the EdenBlend is that it has 46% DV calcium in 1 cup whereas my EdenBlend only has a very disappointing 4%. Other than that it has less protein and more sugars. **** so my vote so far is OTHER, as i am happy with the Amazake/Soybean blend of EdenBlend. Guest guest
Thank you for your in depth post. You mentioned that you tried the oat and multi grain drinks but didn't say what you thought of them. I'm curious. I try to stay away from soy products. All I've heard about them really makes me less and less impressed. Unless it's fermented........ Peace, Reggie > > hi there, > > new to the group and this is my first post. all these years i thought i was doing so well > with skim milk :-) > > i voted for other. > > last year, i really got into soy milk. i would buy west soy and of course whole foods 365 > brand. then i really got into the fat free west soy. > > however, after reading up on macrobiotics by kushi in december of 2006, amazake was a > new word for me to explore as i never saw it on the whole foods aisle. so i was on the look > out for amazake. > > after buying EdenBlend Certified Rice & Soy Beverage, it was the only alternative " milk " / > beverage that had amazake. it is delicious and has all of the omega3-6-9 too. the > ingredients are: Purified Water, Organic Amazake (Organic Short Grain Brown Rice, water, > Koji-Aspergillus Oryzae), Organic Soybeans, Kombu Seaweed, Carrageenan, Sea Salt. > > in comparison with the other soy milks, it is a bit pricey at $2.79 per 32 fl oz. but it is > worth it to me. > > this last week, i have tried the Pacific brand - i wasn't too crazy about the Hazelnut flavor. > but i did buy the Multigrain, and Oat just to try them. the other brand that i bought > recently, and the most expensive of all at about $3.79 is the Living Harvest Hempmilk > which is okay and the only advantage that it has over the EdenBlend is that it has 46% DV > calcium in 1 cup whereas my EdenBlend only has a very disappointing 4%. Guest guest
, good promoting! I have a friend who bought a similar one and it was much more expensive. This one looks great! Probably works out less expensive and healthier in the long run as you're making your own fresh stuff and can avoid all sorts of junk and processing. > > Great poll idea ! > > Wanted to point out that you can make most of these milks yourself with > this this kitchen gadget that we sell called a Soyabella > > http://www.simply-natural.biz/Soyabella.php > > >
Guest guest
hi reggie, i bought them - the multigrain and the oat and actually the almond too - as i read that maybe too much soy products (i love tofu and soy milk and then miso soup) would be counterproductive so i wanted to explore other types of alternative beverages - but i haven't opened them up yet. the things that i didn't like about the Pacific brand is that they have twice the sugar or more than the EdenBlend (amazake) and just a tad lower in protein. i have high expectations from the multi-grain. :-) > > Thank you for your in depth post. > You mentioned that you tried the oat and multi grain drinks but > didn't say what you thought of them. Guest guest
Reggie thank you for that. You are too sweet. For some reason I didn't get Bruce's post at all. So I was shocked to read your reply to him. However, I will address what Bruce had to say. Hopefully this doesn't stir up controversy ...not at all what I'm looking for. How can I say animal milk is yuck? Well I'm a vegetarian/vegan and I find drinking cow's milk disgusting! Not to mention the crap it does to ones body! Bruce here is where we ...and some other in the group may beg to differ. I do not consider us humans, animals. I believe animals and humans are completely different categories of life forms, just like plant life that I group on it's own...but that is besides the point. I find consumption of animal milks (goat, cow, whatever ) disgusting and couldn't imagine drinking a cup of the stuff. As for why I didn't include Amasake on the list 1) I didn't think of it at the time 2) I didn't want a list that went on forever. I 'm sure there are many forms of 'vegan' milks that I left off that list. It wasn't my intention to name each one. Just a simply poll. Of course I believe mother's milk (Human) is best for babies, but I'm also not going to put that on the list for a poll to adults! Heck if there is an adult out there drinking mothers milk ...well I don't know if I want to know about it. I feel a mother's milk is for her baby. That applies to calves for cows, and any other animal that has her young suck. I can't recall seeing any adult cow going to it's mother for milk. Or for all that matters a cow going to a human or another 'animal' to nurse. I think each within it's own kind as a babe. ...but again this is soooo off topic from my poll! Thank you for you opinion on the amasake though. I do appreciate the feedback. I certainly did not think I was preaching to the choir as I come to Reggie's group often asking for help and feedback from those more knowledgeable than myself. So I certainly don't consider myself to be in a league to preach. I wish I had more time to reply to this Bruce but I have a friend picking me up very shortly to go out. I'm sorry if my post, done in completely innocence, has somehow offended you. It was not my intention to offend you or anyone else in this group. Reggie don't worry, though I tend to be a very sensitive, I didn't feel antagonized at all. Guest guest
Reggie why am I not getting the posts in my in box that people like Garethusa and Bruce are making? They only show up in my inbox when you've replied. Either way ...thank you Garethusa for your post. Guest guest
Reggie why am I not getting the posts in my in box that people like Garethusa and Bruce are making? They only show up in my inbox when you've replied. Either way ...thank you Garethusa for your post. I've never seen the amasake/soybean blend by Eden (probably not here yet, we suck!) but I"ll certainly look out for it! Thank you.
