Do you think that holds for cats as well?

Neurofeedback without equipment

The other day I was doing some Qi Gong exercises in the forest, I was my eyes closed, very concentrated and try to figure out what could be the waves I was on, then I open my eyes and saw and squirrel very close to me maybe 30 cm from my foot, watching at me, I kept doing my very focus and slow respiratory movements, thinking that maybe I was producing a very nice SMR and that squirrel was able to find that I was in that stated. Since then I am wondering if I can get rid of all my neurofeedback equipment and start using squirrels and maybe little birds to tell how I am performing.

I am not thinking to get rid of my neurofeedback equipment, but the encounter with the squirrel happen a few days ago.

Have somebody had any similar experience?

If you count Dr. Verdesi of the Lei Shan Dao tradition, a former instructor of Mantak Chia's Universal Dao. Also, Wang Li Ping, the lineage holder for the six major Dao and Wong Kiew Kit, the Grandmaster of the Shaolin Wahnam. That is some pretty heavyweight company to keep. Are you an energy worker or a pranic healer? If I am sitting in any place, I use the noticing of flying things to as a sign of state-shift in my consciousness.

Eg- On a walk in the woods, when I first stop and sit to start observing, I am in often mentally in a monologuing verbal thoughtline that is separate from the ^woods^ around me, in part because of the rhythmic entrainment with my very own walking and accelerated resp rate. I sit and my body is still, but the mind is still on a ramble. My ocular vision more diffuse.

And a bit of time passes, indescript.

but it is followed by flying insects becoming aparent. All the fast passing back and forth of bugs and birds suddenly stands out in my vision. In my experience, upon recognizing this, I use it now as a tool / guage of my connection with that environment- natural rhythm (I´ve observed it in urban environs. also indoors. )

as I drift off into more theta reflections, or distract into beta planning, that ^aereal view^ sensation is difused again.

yes- for sure. neurofeedback presages its present name by milenia.

all the best,

I just sent an ebook to Pete to poste on the list archives please. It´s called, Biofeedback without Machines.

Very interesting experience. I've had animals watch me when I do Qi Gong, but they are usually laughing at me, so I'm probably not doing it very well (just kidding).

BTW, I have Google mail, and Google never misses a chance to advertise. They look for key words in the text of an e-mail and then stick little ads beside the body of the email. It was kind of funny that your e-mail, which was so respectful of nature and our part in it, had an ad beside it for:

Tomahawk Squirrel TrapsMfg Squirrel Traps since 1925. Huge Selection of Squirrel Traps.www.tomahawklivetrap.com

I would guess that the state you were in was probably strong synchronous alpha with SMR. There is no doubt that animals seem to pick up our brain states (nervous people have nervous dogs, etc.) There is also little doubt in my mind that practicing Qi Gong not only moves energy within the body but is capable of produce clearer fields around it. I would guess the squirrel was telling you that you seemed very interesting and non-threatening (pretty unusual for a human in a forest).
